Mr. and Mrs. Bill fiulrich are bush these days moving from their home the other side of Wingham to, the former Bill Evans' property which they have purchased. Beecroft was • going to bed and, put out the light, he noticed a light on the bedroom wall which he and his wife thought was that of a car. As it did notseem to move they investigated and found it to be their neighbour Jim Ross' barn on fire. Mrs. Beecroft notified the Wing- • ham fire department and notified Mr. and Mrs. Ross of the fire and 'Gary Rintoul whosebarn and house are across the road. The fire department managed to save a portion of the barn. A pony was lost in the fire. The fire truck had to return to the fire on Thursday and put out, another blaze which had sprung up. On Thursday e'ening Whitechurch Women's Insti- tute conveners of the stand- ing committees met at the home of Mrs. Russel •Mc- Guire, Wingham and made up their reports. • Mr. and Mrs$, Russel Chapman visited on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Groskorth of Goderich. 1 1 1 1 Mrs. Maimie Cashel( of Brookhaven Rest Home, formerly of Whitechurch, celebrated her birthday on Thursday: April 2nd at the home of her daughter,. Mrs. Ronald Coultes, where a •crowd of 44 relatives and, friends called during the afternoon to wish her niuch happiness and good health in the • future. She received cards and gifts. Her sister,. Mrs. Scott from Ripley, and relatives from Kincardine • and' Teeswater were also • present. Mrs. Coultes served birthday cake, ice cream and tea to the many guests. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon spent a few days last week in Chatham with Mr. and Mrs. Donald.
