Emerson Lyle Willis of Listowel spent holidays ' with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.. Art Burrows and other friends last week. " Dale Jamieson of Kurtz- ville is visiting with his "sister, Mrs. Jim de Boer and Mr. de ,Boer and family. He also came up to Whitechurch and called on his many friends in the village. On Thursday 10 members of the. Whitechurch Institute gathered at the :home of Mrs. Rena Fisher of Wingham .and presented Mrs, Nellie Evans with a tartan broach and coffee spoon: She is leaving Whitechurch on March 31 and is going to live in an apartment in . London: Mrs. Russel McGuire made the presentation. Mrs. Evans thanked the ladies for their gifts. Lunch was served by Mrs. McGuire: Mrs. Conn, Miss`, Wilson. and Mrs: Cur- rie. Mrs. Conn thanked Mrs. Fisher for having the meet- ing at her home: , On Friday evening ' .Open House and dancing was held in the .Whitechprch Com- munity Memorial Hall to cel- ebrate Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin's 40th .wedding anni- versary. During the Open House many arrived to rem- inisce over, by gone days and an enjoyable time was had by. all. Pictures were taken of many of the. friends. Dancing was enjoyed to music by Tiffin's orchestra. At lunch time Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin were called to the ?platform. Mrs. Dave Gibb read an address and Mrs. Lorne Dur- nin presented . them with a box of anniversary cards. Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin both replied thanking the spon- sors of the party, those who came and those who gave gifts. The bride's attendant, Mrs. Bill Schneider, was present for the occasion. Her husband is a patient . in Victoria Hospital, London and was . unable .to attend. The community wishes, him a speedy recovery. Jarret and Lyle Willis of Listowel spent the holiday with their grandparents, Mr. Host meeting The . District Directors meeting of Bruce South Dist- rict of Women's Institutes was held at Lucknow. Mrs. Earl Elliott gave an excellent report on • the area Convention (1980) held in Wiarton. Mrs. David Ireland reported for the Tartan committee, stating several new articles would be on sale: There was somediscussion on the i'nove by Bell tele- phone to raise rates . 30%. Members were urged -to write letters regarding an alarming situation. It was agreed to have new song sheets updated and printed. The Bruce South District annual will be hosted by Purple Grove in Ripley .Unit- ed Church May 19. Mrs. Ross Cumming thanked the Lucknow branch for their hospitality.
