tural banquet. Mrs: Jas.
Arnold convened the pro-

There are so many children,
thenare forced to attend

The schools and some of the
homes are of cement blocks
with few if any windows.
Most of the natives live in
homes 'of scrap ,..metal, or
whatever materials .they can,
find,. The children. though
poorly dressed, were very
clean. A Boxite industry and
banana .plantations are the
main source of income for the
island, with the tourists
dollars their. main concern.
We can help these people
by supporting the Mission
and Friendship fund in our
church, she pointed out.
Mrs. -Arnold thanked all
who took part 'in the pro-
gram, The Mizpah benedic-
tion ' was repeated and , a
social time enjoyed.
UNIT 2.
I Unit . 2 of the Lucknow
U.C.W. met, in the church
parlour February 3 with an
attendance of 12 members
and one visitor. 'Mrs. Peter
Cook welcomed all Ipresent
on such a wintry day, reading
a suitable poem. a '
Hymn singing was follow-
ed with a prayer by :Mrs.
Cook and all repeating the
Lord's Prayer, ' •
The minutes were read
and approved followed with.
the treasurer's, report.
The roll • call proved most
interesting, being ansvvered
with a Thought for Valentine:
Mrs. Mary MacGillivray
reported on the success of
the Agricultural • banquet,
catered to by the women. A
queen -sized - quilt and two
crib quilts made by the Unit
were on display tet be sold.
The devotional , part of our
meeting was most' capably
chaired by Mrs. Jean Jar-
dine,• giving' a „reading on
Valentine suitable for this
month and also stated the •
importance of the word. Love,.
relating to God is Love, and
the many times it appears in..
the scriptures. She' also re-
ferred to the word. Charity,'
and how it is important and
necessary that we give of our
money but should .never
forget.. to give' of our Love.'
Mrs. Wes Ritchie accompan-
ied hymns On the piano.
A • musical: selection, of
many lovely old songs on the
'theme. Love, was played ,on
the piano by 'Mrs.,, Mary
MacGillivray and enjoyed by
all..
The scripture, was 'read by
Mrs. Mamie Renders}on: The'
meditation followed by .Mrs:
Chas. McDonald, relating to
the scripture lesson.
A mostbeautiful recording
was, enjoyed . • entitled.. Oh
Love Divine. :which was the
voice of Miss Helen Thomp-
son, • accompanied : on the.
plane by Mr. Elmer Urnbach.
The study book was eapah=

UNIT 3
Mrs. Harvey. Houston was
hostess for °the meeting of
Unit 3. Lucknow U.C.W. on
Tuesday, ,February 3. Mrs.
Houston opened the meeting
reading a poen,. A.Valentine.
Mrs. Victor Johnston accom-
panied the hymns.
The secretary -treasurer
•and social convener gave
re$orts. The roll call, Some-
thing families families can do togeth-
er without spending money.

Mrs. Wilbur Brown, in

opposition; hereby demon-

Mrs. Bradley outlined the
mission program for 1981,
and showed material ' avail-
able: The subject other talk.

Present day changes in fam-
ily life are disttrbing, but the
Christian duty tisto work for
what is' compassionate and
just.
Mrs. Eldon Ritchie gave a
reading on the problems of
the handicapped. Mrs. Brad-
ley concluded with, the
words, Whatever you do, do
with love, the world is
waiting for this kind of
ministry.

Unit 4 of Lucknow .United
Church Women met for their
regular 'monthly meetin8 on
Tuesday, February 3, with 19
• in attendance.
Mrs,:.' Harold Greer, presid-
ent. opened the meeting with
a poem, Valentine Wishes,
followed by the singing of•
Hymn of Praise. The roll call
was answered ' with a verse . .
containing the word, Love.
An invitation was received .'

The worship service was in

taken by the committee,

the lighting of a candle by

The ladies then divided
into . groups fora quiz and
;discussion along the program
theme.
