Their parents were the late Mr. and Mrs, Dan, Murray. -Mr. and Mrs. Jim McEwan of Kinloss visited with Mrs. Frank Maulden and Keith. Pastor M. Christensen was a. patient in Kincardine Hospital. We send our get well,: wishes, Midford Wall spent Thursday 'afternoon with Arthur Haldenby. Some from the Kinlough area enjoyed the Carolfest at Luck.now on the evening of Dec. 11. The Presbyterian Christmas WMS meet- ing began with a pot luck dinner on Dec. 11 in the church basement. Later all went up in the church for the Christmas meeting and program. Mrs. Don Bushell presided and read a poem and all repeated the purpose. Miss Winnifred Percy read the minutes and Mrs. Don Robertson gave the treasurer's report Two offerings were taken, one for their foster child. Miss Winnifrect Percy had the devotions and scripture reading followed by a carol. Each one present ook part. Mrs; Glen Haldenby - Declatation. of faith, Mrs. William MacPherson - The priceless gift of Christmas, Mrs. Tom MacDonald - The wondering Age, Mrs. Alex Percy - What is Christmas, Mrs. Frank Maulden - , • Thoughts at Christmas, Mrs. Don Bushell - Decorating the tree, Mrs, Don Robertson Read an article on the famous hymn writer by May Boyle Wiliiam Cowper and her second reading - of Edna and May Boyle. Mrs. Delbert Hedley presided and welcomed everyone and gave a reading, "Christrivs". The carol "Once in Royal David's City" was sung followed by. prayer. Mrs. Ronald Thacker read the minutes. A donation was made to St. Monica House, Waterloo; also a gift to the Sunday School and other gifts. The church calendars were for sale and cards Were signed for sick folks and a birthday and one in appreciation. The word for the rolleall was "Star". Mrs. Delbert Hedley gave "The gift. of Christmas". Mrs. Midford Wall presided for the program and gave the meditation on Christmas, followed by the carol "While Shepherds watched their flocks by night". Mrs. Roy Collins read about the shepherds and Mrs. David Haldenby "Follow the star". "Silent Night" was then sung. Miss. May Boyle and Mrs. Delbert Hedley did a religious playette "Lights along the way". Candles" were lit to represent - Love for the Christ Child; Faith needed for every day life, and Hope which •gives rich , blessing in the Lord's work; Joy that the • Christ Child brought and the good tidings tof great joy for all people; Peace and good will, which the angel proclaimed. Let our light so, shine to make a brighter world. In the light of the candle glow they sang' "Jesus bidsus shine, with a pure clear light. Like a little candle burning in the night". Other readings were given by Mrs. Roy Schneller, "A Gift", •Mrs. Eric Thacker, "One nation under God". Rev. Merlyn Letson, gave the origin / of the niangificat - (my soul doth mangify the Lord); Mrs. Bert Nicholson, "A Christmas legend"; '; Mrs. Agnes Hodgins, "The legend of the Christmas candle". Miss May Boyle told a true story about the lifetime of an elderly choir leader; Miss Edna Boyle conducted a Christmas contest. Mrs. Midford Wall gave the courtesies, and closed with prayer. All joined in .singing "0 Come all ye faithful' A gift exchange then took place. Grace was Sung and refreshments were served. by the hostesses assisted /by Mrs. John Visser. "Happy Birthday" wA sung to • Mrs. Ronald Thacker whose birthday was on that day. Congratulations Kay! was, God moves in a mysterious way. Mrs: Bruce Bushell at the piano played a medley of Christmas Carols. Mrs. Don McEwan read a Christmas verse and Miss Winni- fred Percy A Bible contest, The closing carol was followed by all repeating The Lord's Prayer. The ladies returned to the Sunday School room for their gift exchange and packing the cheerio boxes. A lunch was served which made a nice ending for the Christ- mas meeting and the- end of 1985. President Mrs. D. A. Hackett welcomed everyone • and read a poem "Opening Thought". The topic of the devotions was • "The Christmas Gospel" and Mrs. Wil- liam Irvin read the scripture from Luke. Mrs. Ken Alton, dressed as a shePherd, told the story of Jesus' birth, as one of the shepherds would have told it, who were on the hills of Bethlehem that night. This was • interspersed with several of the Christmas carols. Mrs. Irvin closed the devotions with prayer. The rollcall was answered with each member telling something they do at Christmas that s special to them. A skit "Three Christmas Angels" was presented by Mrs. Frank. Alton, Mrs. Cliff Kilpatrick and • Mrs. Pearl Menary.: Mrs. D. A. Hackett led in prayer. Mrs. Larry Wilkins gave the study book, on Korea, and the service of the Least Coin was observed. • Mrs. Fred Phillips led the Bible study which was a scrambled word puzzle on the Christmas story. Following the business, all joined in singing "Away In A Manger" and the president closed the meeting with prayer and a social hour afterward.
