memory of Ashfield woman
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Farrish and Mrs.
Lloyd MacDougall attended the Sunday
morning service in St. Andrew's "Presby-
terian Church, Kitchener. A beautiful
stained glass window was presented by
Mr: Hector Cooke. It was dedicated in
memory of his wife, . the late Edith
Johnstone of Ashfield.
After the service, a deliciouslunch was
served to friends and relatives at the home
of Hector Cooke:
The Lucknow Public School held their
Christmas concert Friday evening with a
good turnout, even though the weatherman
gave us a good snow fall.
Best wishes go to Brian Gibson after a
farm accident injured his knee. Brian spent
some time in the Wingham and District
Hospital but returned home a week ago.
Mrs. Annie Maclntyre is a patient in the
Wingham and District Hospital. A speedy
recovery is wished for her.

the misfortune to fall and crack his ribs.
/ The commercial Belgium team trained,
fittedand handled by Henry Stutzman, a
young Ainish farmer of West Wawanosh,
topped the Carson sale in Listowel on Dec.
7. The team was consigned by Tom Harlton,
of R R 6 St. Mary's; Ontario.
• Mrs. Elsie Houston had an early Christ-
` mas dinner on Dec. 15 for Jay Houston,
Mississauga, Pamela Eves, Burlington and
Mrs. Jean Hughes, Sepoy Apartments.
Jay leaves Dec. 20 for California where
he will be working. on Rose Bowl Floats, as
he did two years ago.
Banquet at Wingham Church
9n Dec. 11 at noon, twenty-six White-
church W.I. ladie s sat down to a delicious
Christmas banquet at the United Church,
Wingham. The opening Ode and the Lord's
Prayer opened.. the meeting. President
Mrs. Currie welcomed all and , gave, a
Christmas poem, "The Legend of the
Robin".
A duet, "Star of the East", was sung by
Mrs. Bill Gibson and Mrs. Wardrop.
A notion was passed to continue the
'Secret Sisters for 1986. Instrumentals were
played by Mr.. and Mrs. Russel McGuire
and Mary Hehn•, and Agnes Farrier
including "Angels we . have' heard" and
Silent Night".
A draw was made with first prize a quilt
going to' Mrs. Mary Nelson, Lucknow;
second prize of a ham going .to Angus
MacDougal, Teeswater, and third • prize of
apples going to Ed Wightman.
A vote of thanks was given Mrs. Gibb
and Brenda Day for looking after: the sale of'
tickets. Carols were sung with "While
Shepherds watched their flocks", "It came
upon a midnight cleat"' and "Silent Night"
the songs. Jean McGuire did a solo,
"Come into my heart Lord Jesus". Piano
instrumentals from Mrs. Jean Tiffin were
"Silver Bells" and "Let it snow".
Mrs. Elgin Johnston reading "A Christ-
mas Debt" and an exchange of candy and.
recipes was held. Mrs. Don Ross read a
Christmas story, "Christmas Tree Tradi-
tions". ,
The secret sisters exchanged gifts, and
the meeting was closed by singing "I wish
You a Merry Christmas and A. Happy New.
Year".

'Archie Purdon on the sudden passing on
Saturday evening of her mother, Mrs.
Webster Jacklin at Wingham Hospital and
the Purdon family on .the passing of their
grandmother. '
Sympathy is extended to Charlie Taylor •
of .Lucknow in the passing of his sister,
Mrs. Archie. Patterson, • formerly Irene
Taylor. The remains were ' brought to
Lucknow on Dec. 14 where the funeral will
be. held. Burial, will be in the spring in
Langside ' Cemetery in the family plot.

aghan attended a,birthday party. for Darryl
Sacks in Ayton at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Sacks'. ,

the evening at 8.30 p.m.

visited Dec. 15 with Mr. and Mrs. Paul

Hall's opening successful
St. Mary's CWL oULUcknow held their
`monthly meeting on Dec. 9, opening with
the League Prayers.
The grand opening of the St. Marys Hall
was a very successful event, thanks to
• everyone who attended. '
The guests of honor were Father Scintoe,
a member of the Resurrectionist of Kitch-
ener, who assisted Father Dentinger with
Mass; Father Mooney, a Dean of the
London Diocese; and Brother Carl Voll,
who has just celebrated his 40th anniver-
sary of being in the brotherhood. A gift was
presented on behalf of the parish.
