They received a lovely clock from .their family and a pair of lamps from grandchild ren and many other gifts. Mr. George Bushell and his daughter Janet of Ottawa were recent visitors with his parents Mr: and. Mrs. Edbert Bushell. Some from Kinlough enjoyed the afternoon and evening Don Messer show at Blvth on Nov. 17. Mr. and Mrs. Win Allen of the Holyrood General Store enjoyed the weekend at Perth with their son Steve.. Mrs. Lenore Sutherland of Toronto and Mrs. Audrey Borthwick of St, Catharines spent a fevy days with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hodgins and Mrs. Agnes Hodgins and •other relatives. Mrs. Douglas McEwan and Mrs. Jim • Murray are busy with their 4-H girls making ready for their achievement evening and fashion show in Ripley. The course was in action wear and it should be fun for all. Mrs. David ;Haldenby, concession 10, accompanied Reverend Merelyn Letson, Mrs, 'Howard Thompson and Miss Ruth Thompson to London on Nov. 23 to the fall Synod meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Midford Wall, concession 10, visited Edna and May Boyle on Nov. 24 and they all attended the open house for Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald. Mrs. Alex Percy had a HWI quilting at her home during the week to get ready for the pre -Christmas bazaar. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McDonald and family of Orangeville were here over the weekend. Mrs. William E. Haldenby returned home from Wingham and District Hospital after a lengthy stay. Glad to have you home Margaret. Mrs. Morley Bushell of Wingham and Mrs. • Bob Brooks of Listowel visited on Sunday with Mrs. John Barr. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kaufman and Kim- berley of Calgary came to the area Friday last. They Were here for the family dinner at the Golf and Curling Club in Wingham on Saturday evening for 'her parents, Mr. .and Mrs. Tom McDonald's golden wed- ding anniversary. Fifty three were in attendance. They were also at the open house on Sunday at the church. Glenn, Elma Mae and Kimberley thenwent to Mildmay to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kaufmans for supper on Sunday. Prizes awarded at annual meeting Lucknow and District Horticultural Soc- iety annual meeting and banquet was held 'in the Legion hall on Friday evening. While the crowd gathered, Rena Forster and Jean Conley and Ira Dickie played delightful , music. 0 Canada was sung and Rev. Allison Ramsay asked the blessing. President Mary MacGillivray welcomed all and introduced ' the, head table. Joan Robinson thanked the Trinity ladies for,the delicious meal they, served. Donalda Moffat, Jean Conley, Harold Campbell and Ira Dickie played several musical numbers. Lucky prizes were won by Evelyn Cook; Jean Conley and Wilbur Brown. Reeve George Joynt gave a short, address. The presentation of the trophies and other prizes were presented by Stella' Tilbrook to Joan Robinson and Anna Mae MacDougall. Jean Hughes won the prize• for the oldest exhibitor at the flower show. Harry Lavis delighted the audience with several selections on his 'mouth . organ. The secretary's report was given by Joyce Swan and the treasurer's report was given by Evelyn Henderson. The nominat- ing report was given by Ruth Bogues and Jean Whitby, installed the new•officers. She also presented the retiring president, Mary MacGillivray with a pin from the society. Mrs. Trommer introduced the guest speaker, Norma ,Hazlitt of Goderich and all enjoyed Mrs. Hazlett's talk on flowers and gardening and her experience and enjoy- ment in growing flowers and 'vegetables. Evelyn Henderson thanked her and pies- ented her with a gift. The Queen was sung with. Elsie Houston asthe pianist. Newly weds move to community Congratulations to Don MacDonald and Mary Anne Coiling who were married last ,Friday. They will be living on the 9th concession at the.former Bob and Pat Kelly home. Welcome to the community. The 4-H achievement program for Basic Baking was held at Brookside School on Nov. 19. Brenda Gibson received her sixth project award. The four girls taking the course were Nancy Hunter, Brenda Gib- son, Janine Helm and Shauna Andrew. The leaders were . Hazel Hackett and Suzanne Andrew. The Sacrament of Baptism was observed at Trinity United Church on Nov. 24. Rev. Gordon Pickell baptized Timothy James, son of Jack and /Sharon Wilkins: Jean Phillips spent two weeks visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Royal and girls in Portage La Prairie and 'with Mr. and Mrs. ,Bill Burke and 'family at Shiloh, -and with other relatives at Brandon, Manitoba. Mrs. Royal and Mrs. Burke returned hotite with their sister Jean and are visiting in Ontario for two weeks.
