catch gingerbread men

On Nov. 17 Mrs. Cameron's Kindergar-
ten madgingerbread men. They were
delicious. On Thursday they made cow
puppets, from paper bags and painted
pictures about the ginger bread man story.
The seniors are working on the Christ-
mas concert.
Beverly Aitchison, Brenda Haggitt,
Melissa Logtenberg, Mary Lou MacAuley
were Playing Tiivia on Thursday afternoon.
This week Mrs. Young's Grade 1 has
been studying community helpers and•all
the great work they do.' They have a new
girl, Caroline Bleeker from Germany. The
class is helping her learn English.
Mrs. Marian Zinn of Lucknow visited the
Grades 3 - 4 class rooms on Nov. 15. She
,showed slides of the British Isles and

explained the reasons for many of our fore-
fathers coming to Canada. ,
The Room 4 Alphabet has a new "M"1
Simone Bleeker has come to Canada from
Germany, and is now a member of the
class. She • is learning English and the
class is learning German! It has been a
busy week with .the new Transformer
theme, making stories and creating new
go -bots. Letters and pictures were also
sent to the partner class. in Hinton,
Alberta. The Alphabet would also like to
say "Hip Hip Hooray for snow!"
Sunday School participates
The Sunday School of Lucknow United
Church held its "Rally Day" on Nov. 17,
with members of .the Sunday School
participating ,in the worship service. The
theme of the' service was "Hands" - our
hands, the hands of others, God's hands.
Dale Priestap led in the Prayer of
Confession, which was written by the
Grade 6 - 7 Class. Mary Lou Priestap read
"Her Hands" .• The responsorial reding
was led by Anne Alton. A "Dialogue on
Hands" was presented by Debbie Atkin-
son, Brenda Gibson, and Bonnie Hender-
son. Scripture readings were read by Paul
Helm and Heather Priestap. A reading
called "Hands of the Future" was read by
'Sunday School Superintendent, Elaine
Irwin. Laura , Lee Cayley told the story
behind the, famous painting of the
"Praying Hands". Angela Boyd led in the
Prayers of the Faithful, which were prepar-
ed by the Grade ,4 - 5 class. The Sunday
School Choir, under the direction of Elaine
Irwin,. sang several selections. This was a
most rewarding service both for those
taking part and for those in attendance.
On Nov.. 24, the Sacrament of Infant
Baptism was celebrated at Lucknow United
Church. Threeinfants were baptized: Nigel
Currie Black, son of David and Joan Black;
Angela Marie Ritchie, daughter of Donald .
and Karen Ritchie; and Alyson Lynn Marie
McDonald, daughter Of Allan arid Chris .
McDonald.
The Youth. Group of Lucknow United ,
Church met at the manse on Sunday
evening, Nov. 24. Guest speaker for the
evening was Barbara Wilkins, the Regist-
rar at the Five. Oaks Christian Training
Centre of the United Church of Canada,
located near Paris, Ontario. She showed
, slides and spoke of the work of the centre,
invited the young people to take advantage
•of its many courses and events.

Couples have annual meat
Charles and Mayme Wilkins, Herb and
Marie •Wilkins, and Howard and Gladys
Carlaw were dinner guests on 'Sunday in
Paisley at the home of Harry and Grace
Wilkins. This was their annual get together
for Christmas dinner.
Sympathy of the community goes to Ab
Wylds of Ripley and his family on' the
passing away of his ,' wife Fran after a
lengthy illness.
Louise Millar of Palmerston was home -
on the vl,eekend with her mother Rhetta
MacLennan.
• The monthly meeting of the WMS, of the
Ashfield Presbyterian Church was held on
Thursday at the home of June Wylds.
Ken,Wilkins of Ridgetown was home on
the weekend with his parents, Charles and
Mayme
Cecil and Jim Webster of Waterloo and
their mother Kae Webster were in Rich-
field, Ohio with Atlee, Jean and Tricia

they attended a memorial service for
Atlee's mother Mary Jo Brown at a. Presby-
terian Church in Akron.
Sharlene and Betty Jones •were in
Thorndale on Saturday where Sharlene
received her 18th 4-H Homemaking Award
and also received her, 24th Club Award for
Homemaking and Agricultural Clubs that
have all been completed.
On Sunday, Barry, Betty, Charlene,
•Sherry Jones were in Thorndale to attend
Barry's mother 80th birthday at an open
house for all the family and friends at the
home of Doug and Mary Jones.
Dinner guests on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Robb were Stuart and Irene
Bradley of Tiverton.
