Euchre tournaments to be held by agricultural society The Dungannon Agricultural Society held its monthly meeting on Oct. 22 at 8:30 p.m,. at the Agricultural Hall. Treasurer Lynda. McNee reported, that all prize money for the fair has been paid and the bank balance is $2448.72. Euchre tournaments will be held once a month again this winter with the first tournament on Nov. 2. Admission will be $3 each and will include lunch. Prizes Will be $50, $40 and $30. A 50.50 draw will also be held, Registration will take place from 1 2 p.m. with euchre starting at 2. p.m. sharp. The next tournament is planned for Dec. 7 with the special contest being a Baked Goods Spin. The annual meeting and pot luck supper, for District 8 Agricultural Societies was held on Oct. 25 in Milverton. A total of 13 people planned to attend. Secretary Bonnie Hodges read corres- pondence from the Music and Artists Agency,. Pineridge Barbeque Co. and from the Goderich Rec. Board concerning their Santa Claus Parade Nov. 23. The flea market is planned for .Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. So far there is a good variety • of items, including a lunch booth, run by the Dungannon CGIT. There are still some tables available for $5. Sandra D'Aoust, 529.7390, is the contact person. There was a discussion about recent vandalism at the agricultural grounds. The police have' investigated and it was agreed that a closer watch and a tougher stand must be taken. A tender for fuel oil will be in local papers for two weeks and applications will be opened at the next ,meeting. KITCHENER It was mentioned that the Dungannon and Area Kinettes will be sponsoring a child identification program at the hall on Nov. 16. It was agreed that New Year's Eve tickets will be •$1S a couple and that includes a hot meal at midnight. The first 10 ladies will receive a corsage and door prizes will be• given throughout the evening. Music will be supplied by the Star. Spinners. Members are reminded to contact the president or secretary if they wish to have an item of business on the monthly agenda. The next regular meeting will be held at the Dungannon Agricultural Hall on Nov.. 26 at 8:30. p.m. Any interested people are welcome. Bring any suggestions for our annual meeting and pot luck in January. Hallowe'en Dance On Oct. 26 a strange assortment of creatiures invaded the Dungannon Agricul- tural Hall. The first 10 spooks received mugs as they entered. Even the. • most 'hideous looking ghosts seemed to enjoy the excellent music provided by the Star Spinners. At eleven o'clock the goblins joined in a • parade •on the dance floor and, lo and behold, some of them shed their. outer covering to reveal that ,they were really just some fun loving people celebrating Hallow- e'en. Even though every one of the creatures deserved prizes, the judges came up with the following winners and presented each of them with $5. The best dressed couple was an ewok and a gremlin alias Don and Gerry Upthe- grove. The best dressed man was a pirate alias Cathy Dougherty. The .best dressed woman was. Dolly' Parton, better known as Michelle Brindley. The most original prize went to an overgrown rooster, Alex Chisholm. The most humourous creature was a scarecrow who • turned out to •be Lynda McNee. A man who walked back- wards' all night was chosen as the most unusual . and who revealed herself to be Judy Draper. After enjoying lunch, the strange group all returned to their own caverns until next year. Recent visitors with Kae and Wellington Webster were Wellington's two •sisters, f' Myrtle Fells of Whitby and Winnifred Gammie of Lucknow;. and Jack and Marion Smith of Dungannon: Jim and Cecil Webster of Waterloo were home on the weekend with their parents, Wellington and Kae Webster. , Barbara Wilkins of Paris was home on the weekend with her parents Charles and Mayme Wilkins.' Visiting with Barry and Betty Jones for the week was. Barry's mother. And on Thursday there were Sherry Jones of London, Fern Martin oftucknow and Sona Rae of'Belmore at the Jones' home to'help Charlene celebrate her 18th birthday.
