ofLondon were Wednesday callers on Mrs.
Wesley Tiffin, Mrs. Cassie Mowbray, Mr.
and Mrs. Vic Emerson and Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Walker.
Visitors on Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Emerson were Rev. •George
Ball, Mr. and .Mrs. Stanley Chisholm of
Milton, Mrs. Jean Henderson; Missis-
sauga and Mrs. N. Langton, Burlington.
Thankoffering Meeting . •
The Thankoffering meeting of Chalmers
Presbyterian Church was held in the base. /
ment of the church on Wednesday with
guests present from Lucknow, Brick,
Belgrave and Whitechurch UCW.
The welcome and . call to worship was
given by Mrs. Norma Falconer. All sang
the hymn "They set out -on their homeward
road". The Scripture reading was St. Mark
4: 23 - 42 by Mrs. Norma Falconer and a
reading "Lucknow Our Thanks to Thee"
was given by Mrs. Henderson.
All sang hymn 98 "For the Beauty of the
Earth". The meditation Summer Shorten-
ed, and Prayer Days, was given by Mrs.
Norma Rintoul..
Whitechurch gave, a song by Mrs. Ball
and Mrs. Jean Ross and Mrs, Kathleen
Elliott and Mrs. Agnes Farrier as pianist.
The offering . prayer was given by Mrs.
Barbara Rintoul. Both Mrs. Mason of Brick
church and a representative from Belgrave
church gave readings.
The speaker, Mrs. Ball, was introduced
by Mrs. Jean Ross and thanked by
Kathleen Elliott. She thanked for our
heritage and prayed for others notso
fortunate. All sang "All people ,that on
earth do dwell" and the closing prayer was
done by Mrs. Norma Falconer. Grace was
sung and 'lunch served.
Mrs. Harry Bateman gave a number a
lunch -hour.
Whitechurch .'Silly • Sewers held their
third meeting Oct. 16 at 4.30 at Mrs.
Walter Elliott's home. We opened with the
4-H pledge and rollcall was answered by
six. The . minutes were read by Marylon
Dow. Next meeting is Oct. 23 at 4.30 at
Mrs. Wardrop's home.
At the beginning we ironed our pattern
pieces. Mrs. Wardrop discussed pressing
and shortening. Mrs. Elliott talked about
laying out the pattern, cutting it out and

WI Meeting
The Women's Institute Curator meeting
was held Oct. 16 under the convenership of
President Mrs. John A. Currie, who gave a
poem '!Autumn Came". Plans were made
for Mrs. Currie, Mrs. McGuire, Mrs. Elgin '
Johnston to attend Bruce County Rally at
Elmwood on Oct. 24. Mrs. Gibb had a quilt
on display on which tickets are being sold.
The WI Christmas banquet is to be held
Dec. 11 at noon at Wingham United
Church.
Resolutions were read and voted on to be
held at the convention. For roll call .4
childhood memory of a doll was very
interesting. Mrs. McGuire gave, a motto on
Reflections at Thanksgiving, At this time of
the year, our thoughts should reflect our
heritage and on being .thankful. We are a
blest people and we should think to stop to
thank God from whom all blessings flow.,
We should'be•thankful for homes, families,
friends and churches, schools and com-
munity.. These are some of the blessings
we enjoy and, take for granted. Our fore-
fathers ensured our freedom but left it up
to each one 'of us to renew .the. policy.
Our guest speaker, 'Mrs. Virginia Newell
and her mother Mrs. Hamilton, had a big
display called Dolls, from the Past: She told
the history of every doll from all parts of
the world and also had collectible dolls.
One doll in the US sold for 838,000.
Tweedsmuir Books were on display'
during the meeting. After lunch was
served by Mrs. Gibb, Mrs. Fred Tiffin and
Mrs,"John-Gaunt.
On Saturday 'evening a family dance was
held in Whitechurch Community Memorial
Hall with music furnished by Tiffins
Orchestra. Many families were in attend -
ince and enjoYed the dance for the young
fry.
On Monday, evening Oct. - 28 the
members of the Whitechurch water system
are reminded of the water meeting which
was to have been held on Oct. 21 in the hall
and which had to be postponed until Oct.
28 at 8.30. It is hoped more than 10 of
around, 40 customers will be in attendance.
Langside Cemetery Board is having a
meeting in the Whitechurch Hall on Oct. 29
at 8 p.m. Anyone interested( is cordially
invited to be present and increase the
group which hardly ever amounts to more
'than 12 people.

attended a shower. for Kathy Purdon, held
in Blyth.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon
took her mother,. Mrs. Webster Jacklin, to
Gorrie United Church where her sister,.
Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, were cele-
brating their SOth wedding anniversary.
