Members and leaders. of Lucknow CGIT
welcomed CGIT . Alumnae to a 70th
Anniversary .Tea Party on Saturday after-
noon in Lucknow United Church. Former
leaders and members from Lucknow and
other CGIT groups as well as many friends
of CGIT attended.
Pictures and other CGIT memorabilia
were on display. The Lucknow group had •
made a special banner for the .70th
anniversary. •
Leaders Doreen Mali and Janice Reid
and former leaders Lloya Nicholson and
Bernice Davies assisted as the girls .served
tea and cookies to their guests. Those
pouring tea were charter member Helen
Thompson and long time leaders Gladys
Robertson and Marion Mundell.
Senior members Kim Laidlaw and
Bonnie Henderson commentated on fash-
ions in "The Midday Through the Years".
Models were Debbie Nicholson for 1919,
Jenny Cooper, for 1925, . Heather Priestap
1930, . Janine. Helm 1935, Kristi Stanley/
1960 and 1970s Julie Nicholson and Debbie
Atkinson modelled. Blanche Needham.
accompanied with appropriate music for
each era. • .
Leader Laura Lee Cayley' led in worship
with Scripture read by Meaghan Clarke.
A11 past and present CGIT persons joined
in the CGIT Purpose and Hymn. Brenda
Davies, a former member,' played for the
singing. .
' The group was honored to have two
,Lucknow charter members, Helen Thomp-
son and Katherine Smith, as well as Gladys
Reed, an early member of CGIT in Mont-
real, in attendance. Donations were
received for the•National CGIT 70th Anni-
versary Project for .a rural health unit in
Vellore, India. Many former leaders and
members. shared' memories of CGIT with
the present members.
Waste agreement. authorized
Kinloss Council met for the regular
session on Oct. 7 with all council present
except Reeve Barry Johnston and Coun-
cillor David Eadie.
George McBride was appointed to act as
reeve' in place and stead of Barry Johnston '
for the meeting.
On Sept. 23 by-law 21-1985,was passed
authorizing the reeve and clerk to execute
an agreement with the M1nistry of the
Environment (MOE) pertaining to a plan of
development and operation for the Town-
ship waste disposal site. '
Subsequently, the clerk was authorized
to invite quotations from Maitland Engin-
eering Services Ltd., B." M. Rossand
Associates, Paragon Engineering Ltd. and
Gamsby and Mannerow Limited to conduct
a plan 'of operation and development for
the township waste disposal site. Quota-
tions were to be in the township office by'5
p.m. on Oct. 21
Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Lane attended the"
meeting to dicsuss fencing and drainage
problems.
The tile drain loan application of
Kenneth and Joan Eadie lot 3, concession 7
for $9,200 was accepted.
By-law 22-1985 was passed authorizing
the imposition ofspecial annual drainage
rates on land- on which money is borrowed
under: the Tile Drainage Act.
Ontario Hydro is authorized to ' replace
nine poles and t relocate two poles, on, lots
one to nine, cod cessions nine and ten 'as
per estimate reference 85 H 177.
General accounts for 516,509.74. and
road accounts for 513,313.57 were approv-
ed.
Building permit applications were accep-
ted for J. A. Porter Holdings (Lucknow).
Limited to construct a storage and work
building and for Fred Gilchrist to construct
an addition to a machinery shed.
By-law 18-1985 was passed to levy, the •
cost of work, of construction of the Harris
Municipal Drain Repairs and Improve-
ments as provided for in by-law number
1.8-1984. "
A motion was passed extending the
township collective agreement with the
International Union of Operating Engin-
eers, Local 793 for the year 1985 -1986 with
the increase of forty cents per hoar' for
groups one and two employees.
A motion was passed that the Ontario
„Municipal Board be advised that we, the
Council of the Township of Kinloss, have
reviewed the appeal of Joyce and Jamese�
McEwan which is appended to this motidn
and have decided to proceed with By-law
number 15-1985 and originally enacted.
