Vegetable theme started

Mrs. Clarkes class is starting a vege-
table theme - .yurn! 'Sara Cameron is our
"Special Me" this week. We're going to
the woods for an autumn walk on Friday.
Danny Wylds made a life-sized person
from his reading book. Her name is Jane.
Now we have two Janes!
• Room 7, Grade 3 - 4 pressed leaves and
fall flowers to make harvest wreaths for
Thanksgiving this week.
Kindergarten One made applesauce and
Nelson Wesley Winterstein
•Nelson Wesley Wintersteib died Sept.
25, 1985 at his late residence in Ashfield
Township in his 95th year. He was born .in
Kinloss Township to the late John and
Lydia (Arnold) Winterstein. As a young
man he wenito Flint and Detroit, Michigan
'to work in the automobile industry, then to
Kohoini, Indiana where he owned a
garage. In the early 1920s he ;returned to
Lucknow where he was a mechanic and
operated a garage. With the,exception of
fevryears in Teeswater and Ridgetown, he
was ' in business in Lucknow until his
retirement. In 1925 Nelson married Annie
Button, who predeceased him in 1966.
They had three children. A daughter Jean
died in 1942 and a son,died in infancy. His
sister Mima Colwell died in 1967.

Nelson is survived by his daughter, Ruth
and her husband John Pritchard •qf
Lucknow. Grandchildren include John of
Crediton, kick of Langley', B.C.; Eugene of
Claremont; Gail (Mrs. Darryl Abrams) of
Barrhead; Alberta; Ted of Lucknow; Dan of
Weston;. Heidi of Lucknow; and eleven
great grandchildren. Also 'surviving are' ,
three. nephews,' Dr. Nelson Colwell of
.Midland, Michigan, Bill Colwell of Lan-
sing, Michigan and Dr. Clifford ,Colwell of
• Flint, Michigan. •
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home '
in Lucknow with Rev. William Hiinderson,
a family friend, officiating.
Pallbearers were 'Ross Henderson, Oli-
ver Glenn, and grandsons, John,. Eugene,.
Ted and Dan Pritchard. Interment was in
Greenhill Cemetery..

The third meeting of the kingsbridge
Mad Mixers, was held at the home of Karla
Hogan. The meeting,opened with the 4-H
• pledge and members learned. how to make
• Chicken Corn Pie, and Cornish Pastries.
Next meeting will be held at the home of• ,
Betty Jones on Sept. 25.
BLACK - Joan and Dave are happy to
announce the safe arrival of their son Nigel
Currie on Oct., 7, 1985 at Wingham and
District Hospital, weighing 9 lbs. 2 Oz.

Hospital to Bob and Debbie Loree, a son,
Matthew William on Oct. 10. The 8 lb. 10
oz. boy is a brother for Jenny and Jeffrey.

talked 'about apples. Our thanksgiving
place mats were laminated for us and we
took them home.
The Brookside soccer teams performed
very well at thFir regional tournament on
Oct. 9. Qur senior girls won the champion-
ship pennant and the senior boys brought
home the runner-up pennant. Both the •
Boys' and girls' junior teams were also
very competitive in their division. Congrat-
ulations to all our teams on their sports-
manship and high quality of play.
Mrs. Grahams' Grade 4 . class •had
nutritious lunch on Tuesday to help
reinforce Canada's Food Guide. Hot dogs,
fresh vegatables, salads, orange juice and ,
some sweets were enjoyed by all.
On Friday the senior wing students were
asked about their breakfast and lunch -
habits. 'The results 'will be available. next
issue as to Brookside's nutrition standards.
