Marian Leila Nicholson
• On Oct. 2, 1985 Marian Leila- Massey
' Nicholson died in Toronto, Ontario.
She Was born in Athens, Ontario and
moved as a child .to. Saskatchewan. She
attended the University Of Saskatchewan
where: as well • as being an outstanding
scholar, she played ice hockey and was, the
first woman to be on the inter7univeristy
debating team'. Upon graduation in 1924
she "began teaching.
In 1028 she married Sandy Nicholson
and .became an active partner in his life as
a United Church minister in Saskatchewan,
then later as.. Member of Parliament and
Cabinet Ministerin • the 'Saskatchewan
government.
'The late Marian NidroLsOn is survived by
her husband, Sandy, Of. the Barton Place
Nursing Home, 914 Bathurst St., Toronto
M5R.3C5; and her family, Ruth Dibbs of
Ottawa, Mary Anna Higgins. of Toronto
and Alexander Nicholson of Fenelon
She was predeceased by an infant' son
Norman. She is fondly remembered by
* • nine grandehildren and one great grand-
daughter
A memorial servive was held on Sunday,
Oct. 6. at Parkwooda United Church in Don
Mills, Ontario. Those participating in the
service were Rev. Robert Shorten, • Rev.
Kao Cho and Dr, Robt: McClure.
