Bible Society members
The Kinlough and District meeting of the
Bible Society was held on September 24 at
8 p.m. in the Kinlough Pentecostal Church.
Mrs. Christensen greeted everyone at the
door with Mrs. Douglas Dahmer at the
organ, Connie Lanting at the piano and
Reg Powell with his trumpet played sacred
melodies as folks gathered. . "
Pastor M. Christensen presided (in the
absence of the president. Walter Breckles)
and • extended a warm welcome to every-
one. The meeting opened with the }iymn;
"Standing on the promises". The scripture
was read by Bob Hodgins followed by the
pastoral prayer.
Each, of the four churches had. a program
number. Kinloss United presented the trip
of Mrs. Ron Stanley, Mrs. L. Dahmer and
Carol Cowan and from Kinlough Presby-
terian the duet of Mrs. Bruce Bushell and
Mrs. William MacPherson singing "In the
Garden". The/ Kinlough Anglican Church
featured Mrs. Bert Nicholson with a Helen
Steiner Rice reading, "The Wings .of
Prayer" and from Reg Powell a trumpet
solo from the'Pentecostal Church.
The 'Rev. D. L Howlett,District Secret-
ary of the. Bible Society from London spoke
on the work of the Bible Society and that
God is moving in a marvelous way to bring
the message of Jesus and His saving grace
to many people. All of our gifts help
greatly, such as the Scripture published in
460 different languages giving comfort,
help and hope to many with the Scriptures
in their own language forthe first time: He
then showed 'the film "Open for All",
God's word is forall mankind. How
privileged we all are here to have theBible
all our lives , and :it is joyous to see new
Christians gather and read and know that
God loved us so much that Jesus• suffered
the Crucifixion and cruel death for our
redemption.
The closing hymn was "I Love to Tell the
Story", fo Towed by prayer by the pastor.
Bob. Hodgms took up the offering and gave
the offertory prayer.
Rev. Howlett presided for the election of
1986 officers, and it was unanimous that
the present executive remain.
The 4986 meeting will be .in the Kinloss
United Church on September 23 at 8 p. m.
Rev. Howlett had prayer and all repeated
the Lord's Prayer in unison, . and before the
meeting adjourned Pastor Christensen
expressed thanks to all who had come and
to the ones who helped make such a nice
evening, as well as thanks to Rev. Howlett,
and to the executive and canvassers who
took on the work so willingly. A Bible a
month plan to help .a person get a Bible
each month, a .Bible going to a different
country, was presented. Some took advan-
tage of this to help more people know of
Jesus and His love. The secretary is deeply
grateful for all the co=operation from every-
one. r
Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bushell of
Wingham visited with her mother Mrs.
John Barr.
Reverend G. `Baulch, a former minister
at the South Kinloss and .Kinlough Presby-
terian Churches passed away at South-
ampton recently. We extend sympathy to
his family. ,
Mrs. William E. Haldenby of our village
is a patient in W ingham Hospital. We send
get well, wishes Margaret..
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Green of St. Helens
were dinner guests on September 27 with
Edna and May Boyle.
Mrs. Bruce Bushell was hostess for the
Kinlough Presybterian W .M.S. September
meeting. Mrs. Don Bushell presided and
opened with an autumn• poem and all
repeated the purpose and prayer. Mrs.
Don Reid read the minutes and communi-
cations. An invitation was accepted from
the Ripley W.M.S. to their 100th anniver-
say meeting on October 6 and the rally at
South Kinloss on October . 7. ' Tentative
plans were made for the Kinlough W .M.S.
fall thankoffering.
Mrs. Don Robertson had charge of 'the
devotions using a Scripture. from Micah
and one from St. Luke and she told a story
on brotherhood then closed with prayer.
Mrs. Bert Thompson 'was in charge of.
the program. Before discussing the.1986
study of native people,- Isabel • gavea
personal story of . when she and her
husband spent some time working near
Yellowknife which was most. interesting.
An item from the Glad .Tidings was the
answer for the roll "call. All repeated the
Lord's Prayer to close the meeting. and
delicious refreshments were served anda
social time spent. •
Mrs. Jean Hodgins of Wingham spent
the weekend with Edna and May Boyle and
all went to Wingham where Edna and May
visited at Jean's home and called on
friends there.
Mrs. Jean Hodgins, Edna and May
Boyle visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Scott, Ripley and Mrs. Ina Eadie at
Wingham. On. Monday they visited with
Dr. and Mrs.. Darcy Bruce at Bayfield.

Lucknow was then eliminated by Wing -
ham, who scored six runs in the last inning
to win 14 - 8. Clint Murray led th way for
Lucknow with two hits and three runs.
Chad Stanley scored two runs, with singles
going to Darryl Gibson, Shawn Bellmore.
' and Jinx Miller. Clint Murray pitched all
three games. Lucknow's record for the year
was 16 wins, 9 losses. Good going boys.
The Lucknow Mites completed their
season bye competing in the WOAA grand
championship September 7. The first game
saw Lucknow defeat Chepstow 7 - 6 in a
