friends in the area.
Steve Allen ofPerth spent the weekend
at his home 'here, and on Sunday Mr. and
Mrs. Winn. Allen had a dinner in honour:of
his parents from St. Thomas, who are
celebrating their 45th wedding anniver-
sary, Mr, and Mrs. Paul (Carrie) Murray's
first wedding anniversary and Steve and.
Scott Allen's birthdays. W inn's sister,
Sandra, was 'also present for the occasion.
Dorothy Peach from England, who has.
been with Mrs. Frank Maulden for a week,
and is now a guest of the Holyrood
Women's institute, has gone' to visit in the
northern part of Bruce County.
Members of the Holyrood Women's
Institute were guests of the Purple Grove
Institute and had an opportunity to meet
two other members from England who are
visiting other institutes here. They enjoyed
Murray Gaunt's picturesof Britain when
he and his wife hosted a trip from July 1 -
14.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Loyd and Mrs, Pearl
Lloyd visited with Edna and May Boyle.
Visitors with;Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Rhody
were Jean Rhody and Mrs, Gladys Otto of
Kitchener and Florence Rhody of Pbnty
tool.
Word was received here that Mrs.
Milton Orton (the former Kate McKay) had
passed away at Thessalon. She taught in
the Kinlough school several years -ago: She
was in her 87th year.
Mrs. Marretta Hodgins spent a few days ..
at Kincardine with her',friend, Mrs. Ann
stam. .
Mrs. Bruce Bushell was hostess for the
Septembermeeting of the Presbyterian
W.M.S. •
. Many from our area took in the Lucknow
Fail Fair and events, and some also took in
the plowing match near St. Thomas. All,
enjoyed both events.. ' ., •
Visitors with Mr. and , Mrs. Bert
Nicholson and Lois during the week were
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Worman (nee Frances
Haldenby) of Humbolt, Saskatchewan, and
they all called on relatives in our area. On
Sunday Mr. and Mrs, Cliff Langford were .
also at her parents here. Jamie Langford,
who had spent the summer holidays at his
grandparents, returned to Woodstock with
his parents and will begin his second term
at Ridgetown College. We wish you all the
best Jamie. '
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haldenby and Sara
and Mrs. Alex Percy visited with Mr. and
Mrs. J. Johnson at Fullerton and attended
a' bridal 'shower for their relative, Leslie
Stanley on Sunday! last.
Congratulations to our area babies who
were prize winners at the baby show at the
Lucknow Fall Fair. Alana Fawthrop,
daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. David Fawthrop, '
and ,Jaime MacDonald, . daughter- of Mr.
and Mrs. J. MacDonald of our village and
Elaine .Lee Rhody,' daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Allan Rhody, concession 10, were all
winners in the contest. '
