At University Hospital Londonon Mon-
day, Aug. 19, 1985, Sherri Dawn Irwin of
Lucknow died in her 19thyear...
Beloved daughter of Ross and Beatty Ir-
win of Lucknow; loving sister of Sandra at
home, Paul of Oshawa, • Patti -Lou and
Robert Vander Wonde of Sebringville and
dear aunt.of Amanda, also of Sebringville;
•granddaughter of Mrs. Bertha Haldenby of
Westford and Spence and Mildred Irwin,
Lucknow.
The remains rested at MacKenzie -
McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, with
funeral service held on Aug. 22. Interment
in Greenhill Cemetery.

Kathleen Mary . MacDonald, 65, of
Goderich, died Saturday, Sept. 7; 1985 at her
home.
The daughter .of ' the late Malcolm
Matheson and the 'former Dorothy Fraser, '•,
she was born. Nov. 30, 1919 in Huron
Township. . •
She was predeceased by her husband
Bruce MacDonald. '
Surviving are one son Donald Robert, one

Mary Alton 'of Goderich, formerly of
West Wawanosh.. Township, died at .her
residence on Wednesday, September 4 at
the age of 8l.

Smith and Olivia Jane (Jewitt) Errington.
The late Mrs. Alton was a member .of,
'. Dungannon United Church. .
She married Harvey Alton on December
• 20;1975. He survives her. •
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs..
Gordon (Iris) Sampson of .Meneset• Park,
•Goderich; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Badman
• and Mrs. Cora Caesar, both of Goderich;
three . grandchildren, Noris Sampson of -
Goderich, Carol Westlake of Brantford and

A funeral service was held for the late
Mrs. Alton in Stiles Funeral .Chapel in
Goderich on Friday, September 6 with the
Reverend Robert O. Ball of North Street
United Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Ron Alton, Ross Err-
ington, Jim Errington,. Harold Errington,
and Donald and Grant Curran.
Interment was , in the Dungannon
Cemetery. " •
• Samuel Webster Gibson
Samuel Webster Gibson, son of the late
George. and Catherine (Webster) Gibson,
died after a lengthy illness Sept. 6, .1985 in
Goderich Alexandra and Marine Hospital
in • his 85th year. Born April 2, 1901 in
Chilliwack Twsp., British Columbia, he
mored with his family to Ashfield Twsp. in
1909. • On January' 19, 1927 'he ,married
Esther,Gladys Ritchie.
Their 'family included five daughters
and four sons. Roy (deceased 1963),
Catherine and John Crocker; St. •Thomas;
Dorothy and Donald Hamilton and Gladys
and . Alvin Hamilton, all of Lucknow;
Carolyn and Chris Brown of Brantford;
Ernie and Mary Gibson and George and
Pat. Gibson of the Amberley District;
Esther (Cookie) and' Paul Wardle of
lrorest; Dave and Val Gibson of London;
and daughter-in-law Evelyn and Bill'Splan
of Kincardine. •
Sam is survived by his wife, 25 grand-
children
and 11 great-grandchildren, one
brother , Earl of . Toronto and . was
predeceased by his .son Roy, grand-
children .Donalda and Dean, great-
granddaughter Crysta. Ley Harrison,.
sisters Katherine Webb -of Agassiz,
Susan of Lucknow, brothers, John of Clin-
ton, _George of Lucknow, and Beattie of
Detroit, Jim of Agassiz, B.C.; Marshall of
Ashfield Twsp.' and Calvin in infancy.
He was a life-long adherent of the United
Church with present membership in North
Street United Church in Goderich.. Deeply
interested in education he' served several
terms on public school boards in Ashfield
Twsp. and encouraged his children to seek
higher, education. •

his minister Rev. Robert Ball of Goderich,
• was in charge of the MacKenzie. McCreath
funeral home Lucknow. •

An exchange of vows between Shawn
Dalton, RR 3,' Goderich, and Laurie Gib-
son, RR 3, Lucknow, took place In Pine
River United 'Church before Rev. Robert
Stokes. and. Fred Garvey on Aug. 31, 1985. •
The groom is the son of Mrs. Mark Dalton.
and the bride' is the 'daughter °of Mr. and
Mrs, Erne Gibson. The matron of honor
was Lisa Van Dyke, while Louise Gibsim, a,
friend of the bride and Denise Dalton,
sister of the groom were bridesmaids.
Niece of the groom, Katie Dalton, was
flowergirl. Groomsman for the couple was
Mark Lalonde, a cousin of the groom. Art
Simpson, brother-in-law, and Pad Daltrrrr,
brother of the groom, stood as ushers.

New year for, class
A new year has started for Mrs.
Peterbaugh's grade, two -three class at
Ripley -Huron Central School. There are
five girls in grade two. Grade three has nine
girls and eleven boys. '
We • are . happy to have Carol
Rimmelzwaan's parents, grandparents, and
great-aunt and uncle come to our, classroorn.
H,er great-aunt and .uncle are visiting from -
Holland. Carol's great-uncle entertained us
by showing us some magic tricks.
The Special Education class learned the
intricacies of tying a knot with dough when
they Made pretzels this week. The class
learned about wheat - all the things that are.
made from it, and what it looks and tastes
like. They,planted seed wheat. Making
pretzels was the most fun - mixing dough
and trying to fold it correctly with sticky
fingers. 0
