hold dinner
Grandparents held a dinner on Sept. l .in
honor of their granddaughter Anne Fraser
of Armow who entered Fanshawe College,
London on Sept. 3 to take a secretarial
course in law. We wish you every success
Anne. Present for the dinner at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Bushell were their
daughter.'SKatherine, Anne,- Edwin and
Janice Fraser and Douglas McLeod of
Armow and Mrs. Mary Stewart of Millar -
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert .Nicholson and Lois
and Jamie Langford visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Cliff Langford and family at
Woodstock.///
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Gregory Dahmer (nee Colette Parise) who
were married at the, Kinlough Pentec,�fstal
Church on Aug: •30. The groom is. a grand-
son of Mr. and Mrs: Walter Breckles of Our
village.
Mr. and Mrs: Robert Ormond and Don.
Christensen of Milton and his brother Blair
Christensen of Montreal spent the holiday •
weekend here with Pastor and Mrs.
Christensen:
Mr. and Mrs. King of Mississauga spent
the holiday week -end here with Mr. and
Mrs. Beit Nicholson and Lois and Jamie
Langford.
David Cummings three year old, son of
Mr. and. Mrs. Robert Cummings, Con-
session 10 had the misfortune to fall at his
home and fractured his arm. Get well soon
David.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and. Mrs.
Grant . Eckensviller in 'the death Of
Dorothy's brother the late Norman Valad.
Miss Pearl Scott " of London has been
visiting with Miss Winnifred Percy.
Mrs. Alex.. Percy returned home from •
her western trip and enjoyed a nice holi-
day with family.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael O'Mally, Douglas
and Lori returned to Denver, Colorado
after holidaying with relatives here..
Mrs. John Barr, Edna and May Boyle
were dinner guests with Miss Winnifred
Percy on Sept. 6 and enjoyed a visit also
with Miss Pearl Scott..
The Holyrood Women's Institute • met on
Thursday evening at the home of Mrs.
Frank Maulden for the Citizenship and
World affairs meeting. Mrs. Charles Mur-
ray presided and welcomed everyone.
Following the Ode and. Mary Stewart Col-
lect, Mrs. William MacPherson read the
Minutes financial statement and com-
munications. An invitation was accepted
from Purple Grove to their meeting on
Sept. 18. District bylaws and resolutions
were read. "
There will be a 47 homemaking club
this year. Arrangements Were made for
our guests from England, , namely Miss
Dorothy Peach, who will be staying with
Mrs. Frank Maulden. Mts. Tom Hodgins
gave a report from. the Historical Society
regarding the cairn which was placed at
Holyrood by the Ackert family in 1977 and
Mrs. Raymard Ackert gave the history of
it.•
The rollcall was "If you were not a
housewife. What career would you follow."
Mrs. Elwood Elliott and Mrs. Tom
Hodgins were directors. . Mrs. Tom
Hodgins gave the topic "What makes a Na:-
tion
a=tion great?" and the motto "There is no
better exercise for the heart than reaching
out to helpsomeone else" was given by
Mrs. Elwood Elliott and was very ap-
propriate, (this being the year of youth).
Mrs. Tom Hodgins gave two humorous
readings and •conducted a provincial
flower contest and Mrs. Elwood Elliott
conducted a quiz on Canada.
Holyrood Institute will have a display
entry at the Lucknow Fall Fair and a
remembrance will be given to our English
guest. 0 Canada closed the meeting and
refreshments'were served by the hostess. •
A most enjoyable musical program was
presented in the Kinlough Presbyterian.
Church on Sunday evening Sept. 8 with
local talent • and visiting musicians
assisting . after . which a nice time of
fellowship"and refreshments were. enjoyed
in the Sunday School room.
Holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
MacPherson, Holyrood, were Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Schaffer of London.
