John James Gaunt,
Following a brief illness, John James
Gaunt of R' R. 3, W ingham, • (Whitechurch)
died on Wednesday, July 17, ' 1985, at
Wingham and District Hospital. He was 83
years of age.
Born in Kinloss Township on June 21,
1902, Mr. Gaunt was a son of the late
Thomas G. Gaunt and Elizabeth McKen-
zie. He attended S.S. No. 9, Kinloss,
worked first as a ditchman operator and
from 1949 until. 1974 owned.a sawmill. He
• was a drainage inspector in East Wawa-
nosh Township for several years.
On June 18, 1934, at St. Helens manse,
he married the former Agnes Coutles of
East Wawanosh Township. He is survived
by his wife, and his family, Jean and Don
Rosa, R. R 5, Lucknow; Jim and Evelyn
Gaunt, R R 3, Lucan; Harley and Joyce
Gaunt, Wingham; George and Sharon
Gaunt, R. R 2, Princeton. There are nine
,grandchildren; four' great grandchildren;
one sister, Merle McFarlane, and one
brother, Russell Gaunt, both of Wingham.
He was .predeceased by one grand
daughter, Karin Lynn Gaunt, in 1965, one
sister and one brother in infancy. He was a
memberef Chalmers Presbyterian Church,
Whitechurch.
Funeral serviee was held at The
McBurney Funeral' Home, Wingham, on
' Friday at two o'clock, Rev. William Hend-
erson .'officiating, • Interment followed in
Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dawson Craig, John
McKinnon, Sinclair Wardrop, Elroy Laid-
law, Jack Forster and Brian Rintoul.
Memorial floral arrangements were carried
to the graveside by Doug, Bob and David
Ross, .Bill and Brenda Gaunt and Janet
Elliott.
W alter Howard Chesbro •
Walter Howard. Chesbro, a former
employee of the town of Kincardine and a
long time resident of•the town; died 'after a
lengthy illness in Kincardine Hospital on
July 17, 1985. He was 77. •
Born in Malone, New York on.December
15, 1907, he was employed by the town of •
Kincardine for 15 years before retiring. He
was the son of the late Porter Chesbro and
the late Mamie Patterson. Mr. Chesbro
married Nellie Phaneuf 'on November 5,
1932 in Magog, Quebec. He was a member
of the United Church.: •
He is survived by his son Robert, at
home; Wilma (Mrs. Ellwood Elliott) of R.
3,-z Holyrood; , Rhoda, at, home; and
Maurice of Kincardiire.
Mr. Chesbro was predeceased , by his
parents; two daughters, Esther in Decem-
ber, ,1962 and Flora May in infancy; two
brothers and three sisters.
The funeral was held at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral .Home, Kincardine
on Friday, July 19 at 2 pm. Rev, ' Clarence
McClenaghan officiated.

Elliot S. Fells
Elliot S. Fells of Whitby passed away
Sunday, July 28; 1985 in the Dr. J. 0.
Ruddy General Hospital, Whitby. The late
Mr. Fells was born on June 4, 1905 in
• Wingham, ' Ontario.
Mr. Fells was an elementary' ,School
teacher and a member of St. Mark's United
Church, Whitby. He was also a charter
member of The David T. Campbell •
Masonic Lodge, Whitby.
He is survived by his,wife Myrtle Fells
(Webster), his son Roy and wife Carol ,of
•
Scarborough and a sister, Mrs: Isabel Daily
of Barrie. Mr. Fells was predeceased by
one brother, Oliver. Fells. .
A memorial service will be held at St.
Mark's United Church, Whitby, on Wed-
nesday, July 31, ,1985 at 2. p.m. Private
interment in • Lucknow Cemetery at a later
date.
Donations may be made to the Dr. J. O.
Ruddy General Hospital, Whitby. Funeral
arrangements are being' made by W. C.
Town Funeral Chapel, Whitby.

Howard Allan Reed
Howard Allan Reed, 65, of Leamington,
• died in Windsor on Saturday, July 20, 1985.
The son of William G. Reed, of Wingham
Hospital and the late Debbie Webster, he
was born Jan. 30, 1920 in London. He was a
member of the United Church.
' Surviving are his wite, the former Mildred
Beritley,formerly of Windsor, two daughters
Bonnie, of Windsor and Donna, of Leam-
ington, one brother, Dick, of Hazel Park,
Mich.' and three sisters Birdie, Mrs. Archie
Nicholson, of Luckndw, Jeanne, Mrs.' Ben
Brown, of Ashfield Township and Eunice,
Mrs. Ford Cunningham, of Kinloss
Township.
He was predeceased by his mother on
May 9, 1980, his brother William on Oct. 22,
1982 and his twin brother Harold in 1927.
His body was donated to science. Inter-
ment Greenhill. Funeral director was
McKenzie and . McCreath, Lucknow. A
memorial service and graveside service
will be held at a later date.
