"Isn't i something when you have to
come all the way from London to get a pair
of shoes," remarked a faithful customer at
George McLean's store in Ripley.
Whether you need a new pair of shoes or
youneed a pair repaired, George McLean is
more than.happy to help. you out. He's been.
(Wing it for years.
George McLean Dry Good§ and Harness
'Shop is among the oldest family -run .
businesses in the village. George McLean
Sr. came to Ripley in 1926 and a few years
later, started up a harness shop on the main
street where George Jr.' worked with him.
In 1942 McLean's moved to its present loca-
tion in the former Commercial Hotel
building on Queen Street. - George Jr. took
over the business which has retained its
reputation for courteous personal service
over the years.
McLean's is one of the few places left that
specializes in the manufacture and repair of
leather products. George also stocks a wide
selection, of clothing, footware, .and ac-
cessories for his customers.
On a yisit to McLean's store you might
find some of the .local men sitting in the
harness shop chatting about old times .and
new; visiting, while George continues to sew
together a weathered harness or repair a
worn shoe sole.
McLean's store is famous for its quality
work and people often make a special trip to
;Ripley to take advantage of. George's
skillful repair of leather goods.
It sure is something when you come all the
way from London for a 'pair of shoes — but
you can be sure it will be worth the trip.
