Band finishes
busy year
By Helen Maclntyre
The Lucknow Band has just finished one
of it's busiest years.
• Normally, the band quits for summer
holidays but this year we held together to
play at Dr. Corrin's Appreciation Night.
Before this event, the band performed at
two other .functions. • " • •
The first one was a Canada Day parade
in Toronto, for the International. Youth
Year.
The band was featured in .this parade •
and. therefore marched at the end. During
our march we realized . that the elo ids
above did not look very. promising. 'Hew -
ever, ,we remained dry until seconds after
passing the reviewing stand. Fortunately,
we .only had to march a few blocks in the
down pour. •
The next event the band played at was in
Kincardine. The town presents a concert
every Wednesday night. •We had the
opportunity to perform on.July 10:.
There was a very good turnout and after
the • concert we were given .a standing
ovation.
The final function we attended . was
Doctor Corrin's, Appreciation Night. We
had the privilege of leading Dr. and Mrs.
Corrin from the Legion to the community
Centre. The band was relieved to know that
Dr. Corrin wouldn't, be driving the car!
At the community centre, the band
played a few numbers during the program..
The size of the band was considerably
smaller at these three events, but we
prevailed thanks to a few "old timers" .who
returned 'for the summer.
