Township council accepts Maitland Engineering tender
The regular June meeting of West
Wawanosh Township Council was held on
Tuesday evening, June 4, 1985 in the office at
the Municipal Works Garage. All members
were in 'attendance with the exception of
Deputy -Reeve Brindley. Reeve Aitchison
chaired the •

Reeve Aitcruson aeciared a Conflict of In-
terest`in connection with an Application for
-Loan for tile drainage.
•• Grant Currie, the Wingham • Branch
Manager of the,Canadian Imperial Bank of
Conunerce, attended the meeting to in-
troduce himself to Council and to become
acquainted With council meinbers. Mr. Cur-
rie outlined the banking services being pro-
vided to the township /by the C.LB.C. and
•answered members' questions about those
services..
Mr.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Durnin spoke to Coun-
cil in regard: to fencing along the unopened
road allowance adjacent to their property,
as well as certain activities on that road
allowance by the new owner of the property
immediately to the south of their farm. The
Durnins were assured .that the municipal
solicitor would be 'contacted the following
• morning add that they would be informed of
hiS advice to Council.'
-Countil members withdrew to the Waste
Management Site at this point in' the
meeting. Upon their 'return discussion en-
sued'about the new trench, and covering and
compaction of garbage, among other things.
Motion by Co,uncillors Todd and. Raynard:
"That the Clerk is hereby °authorized to
•advertise for tenders/in three local -papers
for oneweek, for a bulldozerand operator to
cover and compact the garbage at the Dump
every two weeks," was carried. •
-Council directed the Clerk • to include a
grant 'to the Blyth Recreation Corrunittee in
• : the June accounts, and- to inform the Com-
• mittee that a: further $700.00 would be for-
warded later in the year.
• A motion by Councillors Hickey and
Raynard "that the Township of. West'
Wawanosh hereby anthorizes the Road
•Superintendent to advertise in three local
papers for one week, for tenders to haul ap-
proximately -30,000 cubic yards of pit run.

A motion by Councillors Raynard and
Todd, "that the road superintendent is
hereby authorized to advertise for one week
in the Sentinel, the field at the Inglis Pit for
rent for a three-year period, 'was carried..
Road accounts in the amount.of $19,992.19
were authorized to be paid on motion of
Councillors Todd and Hickey.
The Building Inspector was authorized to
issue, building permits. to 1) L. Sprung,
garage and 2) W. Newhook, storage shed on
motion of Councillors Hickey and Todd;
with Newhook's.permit subject to approval
to the complete satisfaction .of the Drainage
Superintendent.
•; Three applications for loan submitted by
/J.Aitchison, R. Pilwin and Gaunt Farms
and totalling $17,200,00 were approved by
Council on motion of Councillors Hickey and
Raynard.
General Accounts totalling $114,074.92
were authorized for payment on motion .of
Councillors Todd and Raynard. •
Councillor Todd adjourned to June 18th at
8:00 p.m. to complete unfinished business •
and open tenders.
• West Wawanosh • Township Council
• reconvened on Tuesday evening, June 18,
1985, in the Office of the Municipal Works
Garage/to complete business held over from
the June 4 meeting, and to open tenders '
received in response to three adver-
tisements in local papers -the previous week.
Reeve Aitchison presided over the session,
which was attended by Councillors Hickey, .
Raynard and Todd. Deputy -Reeve Brindley
was absent. •
Due to the late arrival of Councillor Todd,
and to the fact that Councillor Raynardis a
petitioner in the, .concerned drainage pro-
ject, Reeve Aitchison vacated the chair
briefly to second, the following motion by
Councillors Hickey and Aitchison, "that the
Municipal Council of the Township of West ,
Wawanosh hereby appoints Maitland. •
Engineering Services Limited, Wingham, to
undertake the plan and report for the drain
proposed by petitioners Bruce Raynard and
EileenMiller." • •

• . Six tenders received in response to the
tender call for contractors to load and haul• ,
pit run gravel were opened and considered,
A motion by. Councillors • Raynard and
Hickey • "that the Township of West
Wawanosh .hereby accepts the tender of
Lloyd Jacklin Construction, Listowel, at
$1.08 per cubieyard for the long haul; and 88
cents per cubic yard for the short haul," was
carried.
Councillors Raynard and Todd moved
"that the Township of West Wawanosh
hereby acceptSlhe proposal of John Martin,
to rent the field presently hay of approx- •
imately 8 acres at the Inglis Pit, for a period
of three (3), years for the sum of $203.00 per
year." The Clerk was directed to draft a
• rental agreement for signing by Martin and
the Township. -
Councillors Todd and •Raynard, motioned
"that West Wawanosh Township. Council
hereby . authorizes 'the road superintendent
to advertise in the Lucknow Sentinel for one
week for tenders for the purchase of. timber

covering and compaction of garbage at the
dump, and these were opened, and eon-
siderecl by Council. A motion by Councillors
Todd and Hickey, "that the Township of
West Wawanosh hereby accepts the tender
of Ray Hallahan Construction, Myth, for a
period of one year to cover and compact
garbage at: the dump when required, at a
rate 0E442.00 per hour plus one hour moving
time." was carried. Reeve Aitchison re-
quested that the minutes record his opposi-
tion to this motion.
Councillor Todd adjourned this meeting to
July 2, 1985, at'7 :30 p.m. •

party for Mr. and Mrs. Don Bell in honour
• of their 25th wedding ' anniversary last
week Congratulations Ruth and Don.
The South Kinloss church choir surpris-
ed Ena Steer with an appreciation night for
being in the choir and a faithful member
for years. Ena *was presented with some
gifts. She is convalescing at her home in
Lucknow after having fall in which she
broke her hip in early spring.

Moffat entertained by doing a tap dance
,solo arid Marita MacDougall played a
beautiful -piano solo.
Irene Halderiby gave a contest and' the
chairlady, Gladys Johnston; read the
addiess and asked Dianne and her two
friends to come forward to receive her
gifts.
,Dianne thanked the ladieS and, a lunch

score with Safety Club.
