(Photo by Alan liivett) Harsh words exchanged... from page 1 Murray of Councillor Whitby's argument with Reeve Joynt. "I have no axe to grind with him because we've always got along. He does, as a rule, get kind of cross. I can't figure him out. I'm still willing to sit with him (on council) if he's made up his mind, but Inn not going to coax him....I'm not going to pursue this matter any further." Reeve Joynt says the debate which promoted Councillor Whitby's anger dealt with appointing an alternate to sit on the './ Bruce County Planning Advisory Commit- tee e. He says this comMittee meets once or ttriee a year to discuss zoning and planning problems each individual town encounters within the county. Because of other commitments and meetings which oonern the town, Mr. Joynt sayshe is unable to attend the advisory committee meetings and has appointed Councillor Murray to be his , alternate at these meetings. The discussion at Tuesday's council meeting focused on ' appointing another council member to serve as Councillor Murray's alternate, • thus freeing Reeve Joynt from the respon- sbility. Council was debating this matter in response to a letter from Don Scott, senior planning director in Bruce, who wished clarification on who the Luclmow delegates would be. Reeve Joynt says council had brought this issue up at the May council meeting but it was left unresolved because council couldn't come to an agreement. This, said Reeve Joynt; could have sparked Council- lor Whitby's anger. "We were coming to a decision on how to handle it," said Reeve Joynt. Insurance takes jump... from page 1' insurance costs on the arena, pool and the medical centre among Lucknow, W est W awanosh, Ashfield and Kinloss Town- ships. Councillor Ab Murray said he was dissatisfied with the 38 per cent increase, but pointed out that council's hands were tied because of the need fir adequate insurance protection for the village. He was pleased with the decision to take the $10 million liability insurance because of the upcoming sewer project. "I feel we need the $10 million liability coverage because of the sewer project. There's going to be a lot of open man holes. If we ever needed it (liability protection) we need it now," he said. Council also decided to ensure the water tower in the village. Up to now, the water tower was left off the insurance policy. The water tower insurance added $300 more to this years premium.
