Garden party successful
Trinity U.C.W. held a successful garden
party last Tuesday at Brookside with
approximately 400 attending.
Merle Mooney of Regina, Saskatchewan
visited with her cousin, Marian and
Warren Zinn, last... Wednesday. Also
visiting were Glajdy Tuck of Oakville and
her mother, Sadi ;;Graham of Lucknow.
Hannie Scott travelled with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. G. Winkel of Fbrdwich, to
Vorden and Binxperlo, Holland, for two
weeks. It was Hannie's first trip back to her
homeland since coming to Canada in 1949.
They visited with relatives and friends and
attended the Keuken Flower Show.
Sympathy is extended to the family of
Larry Campbell who passed away Last
Thursday.
Jackie Norman of Holmesville and Alex
and Ella Hackett visited on Sunday with
Ken and Ruth Alton and family.
The anniversary service at Trinity United
Church was held on Sunday, June 9 at 11
a.m. Rev. Donald Stroh of Stratford was
the guest minister. The junior choir sang
with the leadership of Mary Lou Raynard
and the senior choir sang with organist
Ruth Alton. Jackie Norman of Holmesville
was the guest soloist.
Dinner guests with Margaret and John

Trinity Young People enjoyed a swim on
Sunday afternoon at Kincardine and had a
barbecue at the cottage of Flank and
Loreen Alton at Lurgan.
Congratulations to Gordon Alton who
graduated from University of Waterloo
recently. Gordon is now employed at
Canada Trust in London.
Allan and Margaret Hackett and Tillie
Hackett of Lucknow visited on Sunday with
Chester and Bell Hackett and family. .
Marvin and Hannie Scott and family,
Donnie Ray and Shirley Scott and family,
Isabel McQuillin of St. Catharines enjoyed
a barbecue on Sunday with their brother,
Jim Scott and son Rob, of Walkerton.
A bus load of Ashfield and West
Wawanosh helpers went 'to work at the
tornado area on Monday.
Verna Webster of London, Jean Paper -
nick, Elsie Irvin of Goderich and Clara
Raynard of Lucknow, visited on Monday
with Harvey and Betty Ritchie.
Bible study continued
The meeting of South Kinloss W.M.S. was
held June 4 in the church hall with Mrs. Ira
Dickie as hostess.
Mrs. Don Robertson was the guest
speaker. Using Bible verses and several
beautiful poems she gave a challenging
message on Life's Garden. She was in-
troduced by Mrs. Olive Needham and thank-
ed and presented with a gift by Mrs. John
Mowbray.
A trio of Mrs. John Forster, Mrs. Bruce
Colwell and Mrs. Don Bell sang lovely"selec-
tions during the program accompanied by
Mrs. Leonard Clarke.
Mrs. Harry Lavis continued the Bible
Study - United in Prayer. All mission work
needs our prayerful support.
During the business period members
voted to approve the new Mm and Purpose
as suggested by council executive. South
Kinloss willhost the Presbyterial Rally in
October. It was decided to serve lunch
following the evening Anniversary Service.
The president, Mrs. John Mowbray, ex -
CHURCH
pressed the thanks from all the group to
those who purchased and hemmed the new
lace table -clothes. Those involved were,
Mrs. John Forster, Mrs. Harold Howald and
Mrs. Frank MacKenzie. Mrs. O. Needham
also 'received thanks for ordering and ob-
taining the new cups and saucers and for her
generous donation.
The new proposed Aim and Purpose sug-
gest all in the church should be involved in
world mission and the visitors and men pre-
sent were given a special welcome.
Prayers were given by Nancy Maclntyre
and Olive Needham who also closed the
meeting with prayer. A nutritious lunch was
served by the hostess and directors and a
social half-hour enjoyed.
