Donald attended a relative shower at the
home of Mrs. Clare Bushell at Kingarf for
Mrs. Brian Bushell and Connie Glover
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McDonald pf
Orangeville visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom
McDonald.
Mrs. Lloyd Johnston of Concession 8has
invited the Holyrood Women's. Institute to
her home on Thursday afternoon June 5.
It will be a joy to have a former member,
Mrs. Morley Bushell of Wingham, who had
the Pleasure of meeting ' Her Majesty
-Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip last
year. Doris' quilt was presented to the
Queenby the Hon. Dennis Timbrell at
Amherst View. . Doris,. Morley and all of
their family were present. It's an after-
noon we will look forward to.
Norma Coutts of Wingham visited this
week with Edna and May Boyle.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited last
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Guest at
Kincardine ; and- with Tom's , sister,
Dunedin Bushell in the hospital.

don visited with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guest.
They called on other relatives.
Mrs. Alex Percy visited on Tuesday in
L'ondon with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ball.
Ladies from here enjoyed a most plea-
sant afternoon in Listowel on Wednesday
at the home of Mrs. Bob Brooks (Sharon
Hodgins). Quilting on a handmade quilt
was part of the afternoon.
The ladies enjoyed a friendly chat and
we all did justice to a delicious
smorgasbord supper and as one dear lady
formerly of our area remarked, "It's so
nice to see all the old faces again."
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gary
Fair (Jeannette Barr) on the birth of their
little son at Kincardine and District
Hospital on Tuesday, May 21. He's a
grandson for Mr. and Mrs."Jack Barr and
a great-grandson for Mrs. John Barr.

Mr. and Mrs. Allan Rhody and family
held a dinner for relatives and friends on
Sunday following ,their daughter Elaine
Lee's baptism at the Anglican service on
Sunday morning. It was nice to have
delegates attend
Delegates and guests from the local
Legion Branch attended the. 34th Biennial
Ontario Provincial Convention of the Royal
Canadian Legion held at the Hamilton
Convention Centre May 12 to 16. The
Lucknow group included Eldon and Allene
Bradley, Leonard and Wilma Clark, Bud
and Arnetta Thompson, Angus. and Helen
MacDonald and Jean Whitby. /
Sixteen members travelled by bus to
participate in the parade and opening
ceremonies on Sunday, May 12. The
parade comprised more than 500 flags and
colours with nine bands interspersed
among the marching members represent-
ing 340 branches and providing theappre-
ciative spectators lining the parade . route
with the largest Legion parade in the
history of Ontario Command.
Of particular significance was the fact
this convention also marked the official
Book sale coming
The weekend of June 1st and 2nd is a busy
one for the Blyth Festival when Huron
County's largest book sale will be under-
way.
To coincide with the book sale, a variety
concert will be held on Saturday evening
June 1 in Blyth Memorial Hall at Blyth at
7:30 p.m.
Tickets will be available at the door at a
cost of $6 per family and $3 individually.
Plan to visit the book sale in the early even-
ing and stay on for the conert. It will be a

Reverend Paul Mills of the Wingham
Presbyterian church as the guest minister.

In this 12 month period many eve"hts and
occasions will be celebrated at Dominion,
Provincial and Branch levels in accordance
with the Jubilee theme, Pride in Our Past -
Faith in Our Future.
The highlights of the convention eater- .
tainment were two stage shows. A profes-
sional group from Toronto presented, Hits
of the Blitz, and a 'group of Legion
members from the Hamilton area present-
ed, "We'll Meet Again. Both `shows
focused on our forces in war time Britain,
recalling the songs made famous at that
time. The songs and recollections resulted
in much laughter and periodic damp eyes.
A total of 1280 accredited 'delegates and
585 guests officially registered for the con-
vention.
