Student minister ordained
Intended For Last
Week
On Sunday, May 19, Rod Lamb," student,
minister at Chalmers Presbyterian Chur-
ch, preached his final sermon. Using the
famous text of Ecclesiastes 3, 1 - 8 "to
every thing there is a season", Mr. Lamb
spoke of time with the congregation and
their influence upon him in this world at
large. He also expressed his appreciation
for everything the congregation had done
during his 33 months in Whitechurch.
In reply Mr. Walter Elliott, clerk of the
session, spoke on behalf of the congrega-
tion and stated how much the people had
appreciated Mr. and Mrs. Lamb.
He presented the Lambs with a mohair
rug and a sheepskin as a gift from the con-
gregation.
Mr. Lamb will be ordained as a minister
of word and sacrament of the Presbyterian
Church in Canada at St. Mary's
Presbyterian Church Wednesday,May 22
at 8 p.m. All members of the congregation
were invited to attend.
He graduated from Knox College in
Toronto May 15 with a Master of Divinity
Degree, capping 31/2 years of study. with
21/2 of those years he spent as the student
minister in Whitechurch.
He and, his wife Debbie leave Monday,
May 27 for the east coast to take up their
appointments at Tatamagouche, Nova
Scotia situated on the •Northumberland
Strait opposite P.E.I.
The. Tatamagouche pastoral charge is
comprised of the four congregations of
Tatamagouche, Wallace, Pugwash and
The Falls. This. means Mr. Lamb will be
conducting.4 services every Sunday. We
wish them every success in their new
adventure.
On Monday, May 13, the final meeting of
the childrens after 4 class was held at the
Presbyterian Manse. Mrs. Lamb would
like to say thank -you to the children for
their gift. Guests at the Manse were Mr.
Lamb's parents, Mr: and Mrs. James
Lamb of Baddeck, Nova Scotia and Mrs.
Lamb's mother Mrs. A. Cormack of Ot-
tawa.
On Wednesday morning, May 22, the
church received a clean up for the anniver-
sary services Sunday, May 26. This is the
121st Anniversary. Rev. Rob Shaw of
Teeswater will be guest speaker.

Little Michael Ross of Wingham is spen-
ding a few days with his grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. Don Ross while his mother is in-
hospital. '

-Donald and family and her mother who
have moved into the former late Orville
Tiffin's house.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Ross of Wingham on the arrival of
a baby girl, 8 lbs, 4 ozs. at Wingham
Hospital, May 15, 1985. She's a new sister
for Michael.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson, Brenda
and Sharon of St. Catharines spent the holi-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Miss Darlene Emerson. and Jake Peters
of St. Thomas visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Vic Emerson on Sunday.
On Sunday this community learned that
Rev. Norman Caswell was being buried at .
Markdale on Monday. The community ex-
tends sympathy . to his family as Rev.
Caswell was minister here several years.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw, Jason and
Michelle of London spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr.and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw
and . her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Elliott.
The W.M.S.. meeting was held last
Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Walter
Elliott.
Mrs. Agnes Farrier visited last week
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis and family
of LaSalle.
Mr: and Mrs. Irwin McClepaghan spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mc-
Clenaghan.

evening they all attended the 40th wedding
anniversary for cousins Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Schaws in Walkerton.
On Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Evan
Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Hech Buckton, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack, Needham, Mr's. Harry
Lavis and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie were in
London for the ordination service in
Oakridge Presbyterian Church of Rev.
Graham and Rev. Freda MacDonald. Con-
gratulations to Graham and Freda.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick McQuillin and Ron
had Linda McQuillan of Willowdale visit
them over the weekend.
Weekend visitors with Joan Robinson
were her step -children, Louise Morrissey
of Wainfleet and Ted England of Elora.
The Brownies of Lucknow and area en-
joyed a bus trip to Casa I,oma in Toronto
on Saturday.

Robert.Needham's 85th birthday. His wife.
Irene, two sisters, Jean Ruttan of
Michigan and Louise Reid of Corunna

Marcia and Huntley Dawson attended a
40th wedding anniversary celebration for, •
Roy and Madilene Norton at the Grovener
Street Club on London on Sunday. Marcia
was their bridesmaid 40 years ago at their
wedding.
Local boys take Utah trip

Gordon Alton and his friend John Wagler
enjoyed a holiday to Salt Lake City, Utah
where they visited with cousins Anne and
Doug Sherwin. In California (Lone Pine 1
they visited with Gordon's Aunt Lily and
Uncle Gene Sedwick.

David Atkinson who were married on
Saturday in Lucknow.
No Saunders and Bell Hackett attend-
ed the Westminister College Retreat at
London on Friday and Saturday.
