Busy summer for pool staff
Summer is going to be busy at the
Luclmow Swimming Pool. The staff, Helen
Maclntyre, Diane Miltenburg, Marilynne
Maclntyre, Wilma Vandervelde,, and
Heather Maclntyre, have already started
planning activities for the pool this year.
The first session of swimming lessons
will be offered from July 8 to 26 and the
second session will be August 5 to 23. This
year, a new "Bubblers" class is being
added to accommodate young children who
have had little or no experience , in the
water. This is a basic, pre -Yellow class in
which the emphasis is placed on orienta-
tion to the water. The aim of "Bubblers" is
to help the children to feel more comfort-
able in the, aquatics program.
Registration for all the class from
Bubblers to White will be neld in 'the
basement of the Lucknow Town Hall on
Saturday, June 1 from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00
p.m. and Saturday, June/8 from 9 a.m. to
12 noon. Please be sure to register during
these hours as late registration makes it
difficult to organize the scheduleI! for the
summer.
Since most class sizes are limited, plan
to come to registration early in order to be
certain that you get a time most suitable for
you.
Once again this year early morning
swims will be held. There will be a ladies'
exercise class, parents and tots swimming,
and Bronze Cross classes will be given.
The staff hopes that more. adults will take
advantage of the adult lessons which are
taught twice a week throughout the
summer. Registration for all of these
classes will be held at the swimming pool
the first week of July:
A new activity is being introduced that
should be of interest to everyone concerned
about fitness. An aerobics class will meet
to do exercises in the water and swim
lengths in order to increase strength and
endurance.
Plan to get involved in some of the
activities offered at the swimming pool this
summer. A schedule will appear in a later
issue of the Lucknow Sentinel. For further
information about the swimming lesson
and the registration being head on June 1
and June 8 please see the advertisement in
,this issue of the Sentinel.
