Mrs. Young's grade 1 are enjoying the sand box in their room. Miss Garland's kindergarten class are making dinosaur creatures and learning a ) poem called "The Dinosaur Diner" by , Dennis Lee. Mr. Liddle was guest story reader for Mrs. Worsell's grade 3 class and his grade 6 students made book marks for each grade 3 pupil. Mr. Sygrove's class have been talking about responsibility and things they can do. BROOKSIDE BROADCAST Mrs. Tebbutt's grade 4 classroom is enhanced by an 'April mobile of umbrellas and raindrops made by volunteer, Mrs. Sandra D'Aoust. The class would like to thank her. Mrs. Allen's grade 5 class finished a unit on Monsters by watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame on Friday. Their next theme is on animals. Robbie Wood of grade 6 and Matthew Sproul of grade 5 found a balloon with a note from a school in Forest, Ontario. 4-H safety club discuss pesticides The Huron County Farm Safety 441 club held a meeting on April 23, at the Lucknow Co-op. The topics Pesticide Safety and Respiratory Protection were discussed. The leader, Dave Dawson, supplied each ,member with goggles, a respirator, and a pair of rubber gloves to Illustrate the minimum requirements for handling pesti- cides. Mr. Dawson showed the club members the Co-op's area for storage of Real-life stories, from page 4 how people there are affected by them; a glimpse of the traditional health care system which has been displaced by jhe modern, pharmaceutical-dependentractice of medicine; and especially, that we as in- dividuals are not alone in our experience .with the medical establishmeht. Overall reactions from the well-informed audience was highly favorable. Asthe play is still not in its final form, the audience was asked afterwards to comment on' where it worked well and where it could be improv- ed. Our comments were taken very serious- ly by the organizers. Side Effects is expected to stimulate discussion and action on the issues involved wherever it is produced. An Action Guide is being prepared to accompany the play. Tickets for the Blyth showing of Side Ef- fects are $5 each. They are available at Women Today offices in Clinton at 482-9706. Ideas for the club project were discussed and decided upon. Each member learned a lot about safety around presticides from the meeting. The next meeting is to be held on May 21. The topic will be Human Factors In Safety. Kairshea Classic Cooks The last meeting of the Kairshea Classic Cooks was held on April 20. We worked on getting ready for the achievement day and bake sale which will be held on Saturday in -the afternoon at the Lucknow Legion. Members also worked on their books to hand in. The meeting closed .with the 4-H motto. Seniors hold euchre party The Dungannon Senior Citizens held their weekly euchre party last Wednesday evening with 12 tables in action. Winning the high lady prize was Da Pollock and low prize went to Pearl Cald- well. High man was Elwyn Pfrimmer while /low man was Jim Errington. • The seniors are preparing for.their flea market at the Dungannon Senior Citizens Centre on *May 18.
