The students in grade 2, begun a study of the five regionsof.Canada where native people live. They've been busy drawing pictures and maps, as well as reading stories about Indians. The two grade one classes visited the Garden Brothers Circus on Friday, April 19: Mrs. Cameron's kindergarten class has been busy . making spring flowers, cow puppets and lady bugs. Miss Garland's kindergarten class has been working on alphabet trains with their partners from Mrs, Tebutt's room. Mr. Sygrove's dass, worked on activities about pussy willows this week. They also • talked about the changes, that Spring brings. They felt that the best change was that baseball season begins. Mrs. Graham's grade 4 is building props for the concert. They' are also starting to present their. rock mineral project and creating designs in art, using chalk Mrs. Blake had a good attendance at Story Book_Time.this week. The pre-school- ers learned about cats from two books which Mrs. Blake read on the subject. Mrs. Graham's class helped the pre-schoolers make paper cats. , Mrs. Bere spoke to the parents of the pre-schoolers about skills children must have in order to be ready to learn to read. She showed some of the ways used to tell whether children had acquired these skills. Visit Pinecrest... from, page 5 group started up it had three members but this year it has 10 in the group. She says it is a thrill for her to see the girls mature while they are participating in Pathfinders. "It's an interesting age group because of the amazing transformation of the girls. . When they first come to Pathfinders they like to giggle but after a while they really mature," she says.. She says the Pathfinderstake part in a lot of other ,projects such as homemaking and outdoor studies as well as 'Camping trips. The program is designed to teach the girls skills and that will make, 'them independent. Since this year is the 75th anniversary of Guiding, the Pathfinders will be involved in some special. activities. They are going on a trip to Casa Loma in Toronto on May 25 and also attending an area Pathfinders . rally in. Kitchener on June 1. Reverend coaches... from page 11 • "I got into it (wrestling) in high school and eventually I started a team at the high school for the blind in Brantford," he says. "It's really .the best sport for blind people." He says he doesn't find it particularly peculiar that a Reverend would be involved in a rough sport. He finds wrestling is a sport which demands the competitors to be assertive rather than violent. Moreover, injuries are rare since the rules stip- ulate that the wrestlers cannot bend any joints beyond their natural position. The boys in the wrestling dub are presently gaining exposure to wrestling • and developing an attitude of working hard, he said. The skills which they learn through the club will enable them to compete on a more competitive level in the future. Rev. Scott says it is sad to see wrestling has died out somewhat in this area. High schools in Goderich and W ingham have dropped their wrestling programs because of . a switch to Olympic style wrestling which required the learning of new rules. He , says, however, that he hopes the wrestling club will help bring back wrest- ling to the area.
