Mrs. W alden opened with a reading, Easter, the season when we celebrate the , spring festival. Ten members and' one visitor answered the roll call with a verse from the Easter story. The offering was 'taken and four birthdays in March and April, added money ' to the birthday jar. Mrs. Morrison asked for food and helpers for the Easter Thank- offering. Mrs. Peter Cook played the piano as Units 1 and 3 gathered with Unit 2 when 40; ladies enjoyed the "Easter program. ;Mrs. Eldon Bradley gave a brief report from the Bruce U: C. W . Presbyterial which was held in Tara on March 6. Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, reported they were hoping to start Meals on Wheels in the near future. She wanted two volunteers to goto the next planning meeting which will be held at Pinecrest on April 22. Mrs. Allan Gibson and Mrs. Robert Irwin volunteered and will bring back more information. Mrs. Ritdiie also announced the Easter Thankoffering would be on Sunday even- ing, April 14 with Reverend Morley Hammond as guest speaker. Members are . invited to Trinity United Church on Tuesday, April 14 to their Thankoffering' with .Rev. Merelyn : Letson as the guest speaker; also to Dungannon United Church Thankoffering on April 21. Mrs. " Vernon Hunter reported the U.C.W. was planning a noon meal on April' • CHURCH NEWS 25 for all men and women of the church, who were 75 years of age and older. The Community. Friendship committee had met recently at)Mrs. Clarence Ritchie's and had made plans for this year. Unit 1 is to visit Pinecrest in April; Unit 2 in June; Unit 3 in September and Unit 4 in November. Mrs. Glen Walden showed the filmstrip,, Even though we are not Blossoming ,Now, which shows the struggles of the people of South Korea through years of repression, military government and exploitation by super powers. Through all this, the people still have a faith that has carried them from one difficulty to another. The Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea struggles to improve the plight of the poor people. The church is . the strongest community network working with all sectors of society and also with international links. The workshop centre was most 4i npres- sive with Christ's picture on the table and a beautiful Easter lily on each side. Mrs. Allan Gibson opened with an Easter call to worship. Mrs. Russell Button gave a reading which told what took place each day during Holy Week. Elleda Wightman read the scripture from the Easter story and Mrs. Allan Gibson gave the meditation. The prayer was offered by Grace Campbell. Donnybrook Easter meeting The Easter meeting of Donnybrook U.C.W. was held at the home of Elsie Hardy on April 10, . at 2 p.m. with Lois Chamney . in charge. _ She_opened, the meeting with. the call to Worship, Easter Images, followed by the singing of a hymn. Lois than read the scriptures and -a prayer. Eileen Hanna read Victory from Defeat and everyone sang Christ the Lord has Risen Today. Lois read Faster Morn ' apd everyone took turns reading Faster Tradi- tions. Eileen read a poem by Duncan McKay followed by a hymn. W omen's Institute Scholarship meeting at the OMAF'office in Walkerton on April 9. She stayed over night with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Luella Taylor and visited with other relatives in the area. Lucknow ISI The Lucknow Women's Institute held their annual meeting on Tuesday, April 9 in the town hall. A delicious pot luck dinner was enjoyed by 19 members and one visitor. 'Grace Gibson opened the business part of the meeting with a poem. Jean Whitby read the correspondence and gave the ,'financial ' report. W innifred Gammie gave the 'auditor's 'report., Dorothy Brown brought forward the nominating • committee's new slate of officers. Mary MacGillivray declared all offices vacant and installed the new officers. The new president is Ruth Bogues; first vice . president, Dorothy Brown; secretary -treasurer, Jean Whitby; assistant secretary, Tillie Wilson; district director, Grace Gibson; public relations, Mary MacGillivray; branch' directors, Winnifred Gammie, Mary Loth, Mabel Whitby; cheerio, Susan McNaughton.
