OBITUARIES
Maclaren Inglis
Maclaren Inglis of Highgate and form-
erly, of the Lucknow area died at Chatham
General Hospital in his 82nd year.
Mr. Inglis was born on December 30,
1903 in the Township of West Wawanosh.
He was . the son of the late Thomas Inglis
and Jennie MacKenzie.
. He is survived t y three brothers, Tom of
West W awanosh, Roddy of Earlton, John
of Victoria, B.C., and one sister, Pauline
Adams of Kinloss and 10 nieces and eight
nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary in
1982, two sisters Betty and Christine and
two brothers Alex and Allan.
• Funeral service ' was conducted at the
McKinley'Funerai Home with Rev. Eugene `
Swain of Highgate United Church officiat-
ing. Interment Greenwood . Cemetery,
'Ridgetown. •
Pallbearers were Tom, David and Brian
Inglis, David Adams, Chris Garton and
Darrel Jewell.
John Alexander MacKay
John MacKay, a former Ripley resident,
passed away at the Pinecrest Nursing
Home on Thursday, Apri1•11, 1985. He was
in his 88th year. •
- Mr. MacKay had been in ill health for
several years. While living in Ripley he
was a member of Knox '° Presbyterian
Church and a life member of the Royal
Canadian Legion.
He was the son of Jessie and Malcolm
MacKay..
Mr. MacKay is survived by two sisters,
Mrs. Anna Robinson of St. Clair Shores,
Michigan, Mrs. Rose Jewell of Luclmow
and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home on*Saturday,
April13 ,with Rev. Nugent officiating.
Legion members served as honorary pall-
bearers. Friends attended the funeral from
Detroit, Toronto and Kincardine.
Spring burial, Ripley Cemetery.
Easter visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Ritchie and Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Ritchie
and Patrick were Tom and Delores Culbert
of Dungannon, and Jerry and Brenda
Huizinga and children Pauline, Martha,
Wesley, Hannah, Ruth Armand Mary of
Auburn.
Paul and ,Janice Blake and Stephanie
visited for Easter Sunday with her parents,
Ed and Noella Miller of Goderich.
Stephen Livingston of Halifax, Nova
Scotia visited for Easter with his parents,
Cliff and Joan Livingston, and family. 'and
the family attended the'Kemp-Henderson
wedding on Saturday. Stephen is in the
Royal Canadian Navy, on board 'the
H.M.C.S. Huron.
Guests over the Easter weekend with.
Gordon and Bernice Kemp and family were
Mrs. Martha Livingston, Adel Westlake,
and Dorothy Beamish, all of Brampton;
Don and Marg Stirling and son Chris of
Ridgetown; Les / and Doris Livingston of
Nobleton; Harold. and :Elsa Livingston and
Serena of Orangeville; Bill and Marion
Livingston; and Bob and Kelly Livingston,
all of Ottawa.

Kingsbridge CWL elect executive officers
Clarice Dalton outlined several .upcoming
events at the Apr. 9 meeting. of Kingsbridge
C.W.L. for. Goderich and District Pro Life.
She also encouraged continued picketing at
Morgentaler's.clinic in Toronto.
Local candidates are being questioned on
their views towards abortion clinics and the
abortion law. She expressed hope that
members will vote with an .informed con-
science. The next meeting will be held in
Kingsbridge, Monday, May 13.
Bernardine Kinney .reported that her
visits to new residents of Kingsbridgefound
them very happy. with their 'Move into the
•
community. She also expressed her
pleasure at being home again.
The school has several events planned,.
beginning with a PA day in St. Mary's Apr.
19 on "Religion and Family Life." Parents
are invited to attend.
Rose Frayne outlined the numerous
Education Week activities beginning Apr.
22. St. Joseph's Community School Associa-
tion will hold a meeting at Brookside School
on Apr. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
An inspirational scripture reading was
given by Jennifer Sinnett.

agreed to assist as volunteers.

Forster and Marianne Porter organized a
bus trip recently to, Hamilton Textile
Centre. All enjoyed their day in Hamilton.
Sam and Margaret Chalack of Cochrane,
Alberta visited on Sunday with Dora Alton,
Stuart and ,Steven and other members of
the Alton family. •
The first meeting of the new official
board committee for oongretions of Donny-
brook, Dungannon, Nile and Trinity was
held in Dungannon United Church Hall last
Wednesday evening.
Visitors with Doug and Dixie. Cameron,
Jason, Sara -Anne ' and Rachel for the
weekend were Dixie's parents, Wilfred and
Dorcas Motley of Belleville.
Alex Hackett of Luclaaow, Gloria Hack-
ett, Vicky, Shawn and Allison visited on
Sunday with Ella Hackett, who is a patient
at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Get well
wishes go out to Ella.
Trinity U.C.W ..
Trinity U.C. W . met at the home of Mrs.
Harvey Ritchie on April 11 for their regular
meeting, with an attendance of 21.
The president, Mrs. D. A. Hackett,
opened the meeting with a scripture verse.
Mrs. Marvin Scott and Mrs. Jim Fairish
gave the, devotions, the Easter. Story and
Message. Mrs. •Farrish also told about the
life of Dr. George Bennard who 'composed
the well loved hymn, The Old Rugged
Cross, Mrs. Scott closed the devotions with
prayer. The roll call'was answered with an
Easter verse. 'Mrs. Ken Alton played two
numbers on the accordian which was
enjoyed. /
Mrs. D. A. Hackett led yin prayer. and
Mit: Murray Irvin gave two readings. Mrs.
Fred Phillips conducted the Bible Study
entitled, Coping With Affliction: The
service of the. Least Coin was observed.
Mrs. Pearl Menary was presented with a
life Membership pin. Mrs. Warren Zinn
made the presentation on " behalf of the
society. The business followed: '
On behalf of the Smocking Club
members,' Mrs. Phillips presented the
leaders, Mrs. D: A. Hackett and Mrs.
Ione Hackett with a gift. The president
closed the meeting with prayer and a social
hour followed.

safety club

An organizational meeting for the Huron
County Farm Safety 4=H club was held
Tuesday, April 9 at 8 p.m. The meeting
was wider the leadership of Dave Dawson.
Officers elected were as follows: presid-
ent, Paul Pentland; vice-president, Laurie
Pentland; secretary -treasurer, Scott Hack-
ett and press reporter, Kevin Black.
Different farm safety projects were discus-
sed. The next meeting is to be held on
Tuesday, April 23, at 7.30 p.m. at the
Lucknow Co-op. All interested people are
encouraged to attend.
Actioneers hold
4-H meeting

The Port Albert 4-11 Actioneers held their
fifth meeting on Apr. 1 at 7 p.m. at Stephanie
Durnin's.
Roll call was to show and describe the
seam sample we had made for our garment.
Topics discussed were ribbing trim - how,
to sew it on a garment. Members
participated in a ribbing sample:
