South Kinloss WAIS hosts Easter thankof fering "service
The combined Easter Thankoffering and
April meeting of South Kinloss W.M.S.
was held April 2 in the church hall with
Mrs. John Forster as hostess.
The presdient, Mrs. John Mowbray,
opened the meeting with a poem, Miracle
of Spring, and welcomed all present.
Easter hymns were chosen for the
program. Those taking part in the Prayer
Circle were Mrs. Harold Campbell, Mrs.
Steer and Mrs. Frank MacKenzie. The roll
call was answered by sixteen members.
The. offertory prayer was given by Mrs.
Needham.
During the business. period, Mrs. Harry
Lavis reported on a meeting she had
attended concerning the Meals on Wheels
project. There will be another meeting on
April 22 at Pinecrest. An invitation was
read from Trinity U.C.W. to attend their
Thankoffering meeting April 14 at 8 p.m.
Mrs. W . F. MacDonald, a long time
member of South Kinloss W .M.S. will
observe her 90th birthday in Sarnia on
April 20.
Mrs. Loyd MacDougall read two
thoughtful Easter poems. Mrs. John
Forster presented a splendid Easter medi-
tation she had prepared. Christian faith is
strengthened and we have the wonderful
promise, "Lo I am with you always".
Mrs. Ted Collyer introduced . the guest
speaker, Rev. Merelyn Letson. She those
as her subject, Community. She drew
illustrations from the Bible of the early
church. These groups lived together in
harmony and with mutual Respect, as one
big family looking out for one another. The
speaker was thanked and presented with a
gift by Mrs. Loyd MacDougall.
Mrs. Steer favoured with an appropriate
/ solo, Were You There?, accompanied by
Mrs. Forster.
Mrs. Ted Collyer gave the courtesies and
Mrs. Loyd MacDougall the closing prayer.
Grace was sung and lunch served the
hostess and directors.
Lucknow UCW unit learns about the Passover' Seder
Unit 4'
Unit 4 of Lucknow United Church
W omen held their regular meeting on April
2 with an attendance of 18.
The program committee, Mrs. Gordon
Cayley as leader, and Mrs. Jack Treleaven
and Velma Morningstar as readers, pres-
ented for devotions, The Passover Seder.
The Seder is the Passover feast, which
commemorates the Jews' flight from
Egypt. Passover is of special interest to
Christians since it proyides the historical
background for the great Christian festival
of Laster: The Seder's symbolic foods were
arranged on a tray and the significance of
each explained. Mrs. Treleaven closed the
devotions with prayer.
Mrs. Bob Campbell, unit leader, con-
ducted the business. The roll call was
answered with an . Easter thought.
Reports were given by the treasurer,
Mrs. Ken Cameron; . community friend-
ship, Mrs. Graydon Ritchie and Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie; Amnesty, Norma Weath-
erhead; supply, " Mrs. Bill Bogues. Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie gave, a report of the
Presbyterial held at Tara. The April
Thankoffering was announced for April 14.
Mrs, Campbell closed the business with
prayer.
A film,.on Korea was shown. The film

the past, present, and challenge for the
future.
Mrs. Treleaven gave a reading and Mrs..
Cayleyclosed with meeting with prayer. A
social time followed..
Unit 1
Unit 1 of the Lucknow U.C.W. met in the
church parlour on Tuesday, April 2. Freda
Button opened with a poem entitled, Praise
the Lord.
The roll call, a bible verse about the
resurrection, was answered by 14 mem-
bers., The business was conducted and
committee reports were given for Friend-
ship and Visiting, Social Functions, Supply
and Welfare and Flowers.
Freda Button gave, the thought for the
day. Unit 1 joined with Units 2 and 3 in the
fellowship room for the Easter worship and
an interesting film on South Korea.
Unit 3
Mrs. Charles McDonald welcomed the
members of the Lucknow U. C. W . Unit 3 to
the choir room where they conducted 'the
business portionr, �,of their April meeting.
Mrs. McDon'ld opened with a poem,

Easter Brings Hope. Mrs. Alex Hackett.
and her sister, Mrs. A. Lemoine were
wished happy birthdays and the birthday
bank was passed. Fifteen members
answered the roll call with an Easter verse.
Mrs. Vernon Hunter reported on the
meeting held at the president's home to
choose a community friendship leader. It
was decided to have two from each unit
form the committee. A dinnerfor church
members 75 years and over, will be held
April 25 in the church.
The Amnesty group are holding a special . .
meeting on April 16 with Dr. Morgenson as
speaker on Capital Punishment.
Mary MacGillivray accepted the two
crocheted lap robes from Mrs. Harvey
W ebster for Pinecrest Nursing Home. Two
terry bibs are needed as well. Good W ill
Industries of London will gladly accept`any
donations 'of used clothing, books, toys,
etc,l until June 1. Articles may be left in the
old choir room in church basement.
Mrs. Alex Hackett gave a paper on how
the church monies are ' used to help
refugees.
