Luclmow Sentinel, Wednesday, March 2T, 1985—Page 9 Lucknow WM,S hosts UCW unit The. Presbyterian Evening Auxiliary held their monthly meeting March 19 in the church. The evening unit from the Lucknow U. C. W . were guests. Mrs. Frank Hawthorne opened the Meeting with •a poem, Waiting for Spring. Mrs. Hawthorne welcomed all the ladies and turned the meeting over to Mrs. . Robert Finlay. The theme of the devotions was, March Winds and Sunshine. Mrs. Gordon Brooks gave a reading, and Mrs. George Whitby gave the devotions. Mrs. Finlay led in prayer. A solo by Brenda Stewart, who accom- panied herself on the guitar, was much enjoyed by the ladies. A film on Korea, Time for a Changed with a scripture reading from Romans, was presented by Mrs. Finlay. A discussion period followed the film. Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. Bob Campbell and Mrs. 'Hawthorne made the reply. Mrs. William Henderson conducted an Irish sing song with Mrs. Bert Moffat at the piano. Plan .one more euchre tournament The Dungannon Agricultural. Society was extremely pleased with the large attend- ance at the euchre tournament on Saturday 'afternoon, March 23. Thirty-five table - were in play, with partners competing for a total of $120 in prize money. The top prize of $50 was won by Ken.. Vanderberg and Leroy Draper with a score of 91 after ten games. Mary Bissett and Ralph Jewell came in second with • 83 'points, to receive $40. Close behind were Tom Moore and Len Bowman with a score of 81. Tom and Len won $30 for placing third. • • Along with the fun of euchre, there were special contests where 12 lucky people ended up with a tasty looking variety of cakes: Although this was the last euchre tournament planned for this season, it was decided to hold one more due to popular demand. Everyone is invited back on Saturday, April 13, with registration form 1 - 2 p.m. At that time a variety;of door prizes will be given out as a token of appreciation to those who have made such a success of .the euchre tournaments by attending regular- ly. Folks will also have the chance to take part in a 50 - 50 draw at that time. See you then! Attend Junior Farmer convention Lynn Alton and Suzanne Alton were delegates to Junior Fanners Conference in TRINITY Toronto this past weekend. The theme was, Junior Farmer 85, take a look around. Audrey Ritchie and Anne Alton also. attended on Saturday and Audrey won a two weeks exchange trip to Indiana for this Anne nne Alton won one week at the Great Lakes Junior Farmer Recreation Workshop in Michigan for this summer: The West Huron Junior Farmers held a successful card party at Brookside School on March 19. Visiting with Isabel ° and Cliff Kilpatrick and Barry for a few days last week were Mr. and Mrs. Cavanagh of Sault Ste. Marie. Get well wishes to Russell Phillips who is an out patient at Victoria Hospital in London. Russel and Lillian Irvin, Murray and Elizabeth Irvin, Heather and Lynn visited by Betty Ritchie on Sunday for dinner with Alex and Paula Irvin of W ingham. A number of ladies from here attended the shower for Brenda 'Henderson, an Faster bride. It was held in Lucknow United Church 'Wednesday, evening. .Lane Gardner returned home Monday, having attended the spring convention of -the Royal. Canadian Navy Association, held in Cornwall, March 23. and 24. Get well wishes to Virginia Hackett who is now in Wingham and District Hospital. Forme neighbours of Lois and Grant Farris dropped in for a surprise visit at their n home in Lucknow, Friday evening presented them with a gift. Attend festival singers concert Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott enjoyed the Blyth Festival Singers concert at Clinton, on Sunday. Whitechurch minister Rod Iamb and his wife are festival singers and they took part. Mrs. Sandy Fair and Craig of Bluevale were Wednesday visitors with. Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan. Ila Coluson of Caledon visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan. Spending the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan were Mr. and Mrs, Raymond Des Roches of London. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss of Plattsville. • The W .M.S. held their meeting on Wed- nesday Last at the home of Mrs. Rod Lamb. The Presbyterial president, Mrs. Agnes Bregman was guest speaker. There were nine present. The Institute held an afternoon euchre in the community hall on• Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Cardiff of Brussels visited with Norma Rintoul on Sunday. Rev. BillHenderson of Lucknow will be the guest speaker at the baptism and communion service at Chalmers Presbyter- ian Church on Sunday. 'Visitors on the winter break with Norma Rintoul were Mrs. Campbell and Heather of Ancaster and Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer, Jeffrey and Julie of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Rintoul, Steven, Scott and Stuart ivere Sunday visitors with Norma Rintopl. Seniors club presents St.:Patrick's program a The Town and Country Club met in the Legion Hall March 19 for their St. Patrick's Day program. The program opened with a sing -a -long with Donalda Moffat at the piano and leader"Peggy Henderson. Several instru- mental numbers were enjoyed by Ira• Dickie, and Harold Campbell, accompan- ied ied by Betty O'Donnell. Ira Dickie played the mandolin accompanied by Betty O'Donnell. Harry Lavis played several Irish selections on the mouth organ. Several readings on the Irish Theme were presented by Elizabeth Diode, Mary Lavis and Marion Campbell. ]Irish jokes by Betty O'Donnell and an Irish contest by Marion Campbell and Elizabeth Dickie were enjoyed. The orchestra played several selections and several enjoyed dancing.
