Donnybrook UCW
gives to Paulette
The February meeting of Donnybrook
U. C. W. was held on Wednesday, Flebruary 13
at the .home of • Margaret Hildebrand. A
delicious Valentine dessert was served at the
beginning by Alice Jefferson and Ruth •
Hardy.
' Donna Bieman and Wanda Jefferson were
in charge of worship with the theme being,
love. Donna gave the call to worship, God's
love. Wanda read, Sad News About Some-
one, and the History of' Valentine Day.
Donna read the meditation on Love, and a
Note of Laughter. Wanda read the article
from the' Ludunow Sentinel about Paulette
Martin, followed by a prayer, collection and a
closing prayer.
Margaret Hildebrand took . over • for the
business. Articles for a layette were display-
.. ed. It was decided to send a donation to the
fund for Paulette Martin.
Speaks on Africa
The monthly meeting of the Pine River,
U. C. W. was held on Tuesday, February 12 at
the home of Bertha Scott. There were twenty
ladies present.
The guest speaker for the day was
Winnifred Robinson of Kincardine. Mrs.
Robinson gave a very interesting talk on her
. stay in Africa from mid December to mid
January, where she was instructing teachers
of the pupils in the secondary schools there.
Upto now there e are Army few of the natives
getting a secondary education. Hopefully it
will soon be that all the natives will have a
chance to get an education.
The World Day of Prayer was discussed;
where it was to be held and all things
connected with the meeting. This year it is to
beheld on Fliday; March 1 at Lugan Church
at Point Clark
A' lovely lunch was served by the hostesses
and a ,social hour was held.
Holyrood Cookers meet
The Holyrood 4-H dub held their first
meeting of the spring project at Joanne
Murray's home on Flebruary 16. The
president is Kristine Biglow; secretary,
Donna Johnston and press reporter, Joanne
Murray. There are eight-me.mbers.
The -girls made tea biscuits, whole wheat
biscuits and pin wheels. They completed the
experiments in their book
The second meeting was held on February
23 with eight members present. They decided
to call their dub The Holyrood Cookers and
chose their book cover design.
The girls made apple pie and cherry pie,
using all purpose, pastry and whole wheat
flour.
They also did the pastry test with lard,
shortening, oil and butter.
.E' leet session members
The annual meeting of Donnybrook United
Church was held recently in the church. Gary
Shuttleworth chaired the meeting and opened
with prayer. Lois Chamney acted as secretary
and read the minutes, of the last meeting. .
New members elected to office included
John Thompson to session and June Robinson
and Joan Armstrong for stewards. Tom and
Joan Armstrong were returned to the manse
committee. John Thompson and Bob Jeffer-
son were elected auditors and Leis Chamney
is to be in charge of communion elements.-
Baptize children
The sacrament of Holy Baptism was cele-
brated at the Lhdtnow Presbyterian Chump
on Sunday, Flebruary 17.
The children received into the fellowship of
the diun h were Paula Nicole, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Taylor; Sarah F7iz beth,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Taylor and
Julie Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Cleland.

er from the Bruce Generating Station into
the provincial grid.
