The Lucknow Sentinel, 1985-02-20, Page 23[ icknow Sentinel, Wednesday, February 20, 1985 --Prue 23 Douglas Gralham was Community historian Douglas Graham A respelled elder gentleman and 'corn - minty historian, Douglass Grahatn passed away quietly at his home on Wheeler Street in Iudknow on February 8, 1985 in his 87th year. A farmer for 50 years on the second - concession of Kinloss Township, Mr. Graham was a member of South Kinloss Presbyterian Church, where he . was a church elderand member of the Board of Managers. He servedas treasurer of South Kinloss Cemetery for 24 years and director -for an additional 16 years. He also served as school board trustee for S. S. No. 7, • Kinloss. Born in Kinloss Township op March 12, . 1898, he was. a son .of the late Duncan Graham and ' Margaret McKillop of the Second concession of Kinloss Township. He married Sadie Gee of Ripley at St.. • Peter's Anglican Church; Iucuiow on July 29, 1924. He is survived by his wife and -four daughters, Marian, Mrs. Warren Zinn of Ashfield Township; Margaret,- Mrs. Evan OBITUARIES Keith of Kinloss Tbwnship'; Bell, Mrs. - Chester Hackett of Ashfield'Ibwnship and Gladys, Mrs. Murray Tuck of Oakville. Two sisters, Bessie, Mrs. Beverly Sangster of Toronto and May, Mrs. W . F. MacDon- ald of Sarnia and one brother, Archie Graham of London, also survive. He was predeceased by a brother, • Neil C. Graham in 1961. ' • The funeral service was 'conducted from South Kinloss Presbyterian Church by Rev. Allison J. Ramsay at 2 pan. on Monday, February 11, 1985. Music was provided by organist W ilma Clark and, the church choir. • Honorary pallbearers were the South Kinloss Presbyterian Church session: Harry Lavin; Herb Buckton, Ira Dickie, Funk MacKenzie, Donald MacIrityre, Leonard Clarke, Nancy Maclntyre and Margaret Hamilton. Pallbearers were grandsons, .Teny and Paul Zinn, Jamie and Ian Hackett, Murray, Keith and ')kbit luck • Flower bearers were grandsons,- Michael 'luck, Ronald Ferguson, Brian Keith and Scott -Hackett. Former Ashfield reeve dies Charles Girvin Reed A former reeve of Ashfield Township, Charles Girvin Reed of Dungannon died on . February 11,1985 at Wingham and District Hospital in his 66th year. A keen interest in municipal and civic af- fairs led to Mr. Reed's service in Ashfield Township Council as reeve, deputy -reeve and councillor. He also served on the Land Division Committee of the Huron County . Planning Board .and he was secretary-. treasurer of the Dungannon Cemetery Board. Girvin . enjoyed- the friendship and respect of his neighbours and will be missed in the community. He was a member of Dungannon United Church and • a former Master of Old Light Ledge No. 184 (Masonic). Boni in Ashfield on May 25, 1919, he was a son of the late Melvin Reed and Elms Girvin. He issurvived by a sister, Doris Eadie of Holyrood; five nephews, Douglas, David, Kenneth, Steven and Allan Eadie arid one niece, Mary Eadie. He was predeceased by his parents. The funeral service was conducted. from the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home on February 13, 1985 at 2 p.m. by Rev.
