Junior Fleas defeat Ripley y
On Tuesday, >+lebniary 12 the Ludmow.
Junior Fleas travelled to Ripley for an en-
tertaining game of hockey. ,The home team
opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the
first period on a goal by Joel Armstrong.

Lndmow,vs Blyth
On Saturday, February 16 the Ludmow _
Junior Fleas entertained the team from
Blyth. The opening period, provided many
opportunities for both teams, however no
goals were allowed by either Jason
Rutledge, playing goal for Blyth or by Jeff
Porter in net for Ludmow.
The second period saw two goals for
each side with a pair going to Bill. Draper of
the home. team and singles going .to Jason
McDougall and'Jason Rutledge, who had
been replaced in net late in the second
period.
The third period saw Ludmow go ahead
early only to have the Blyth team, who
were only playing with seven players; come
back late in the. period and take over the
lead from the home team. Ludmow scored
three goals with Curt Humphrey picking up
a pairand a single to' Chad Louther.
Blyth goals came from the stick of Jason
Rutledge with two and singles to Ben Craig
and Darrell Bromley.

Lancers tie Teeswater...

midway through the second as Grant
Murray and Randy Alton each scored one. •
The lead was short lived and the second
period ended 4 - 4.
In the third period Teeswater twice took
a one goal lead but relentless forecheddng
by the Lancer forwards paid off as they
scored the tying goal in the final minute. .
The goal came on a Brad Humphrey
deflection off a blast from veteran defence-
man
efendman Greg Hamilton. Jun Murray got the
other tally as the game ended 6 - 6.
The Madill school hockey team played an exhibition game against the Goderich Collegiate hockey
team at the Ludmow Arena February 14. The teams were organized for a special series of
exhibition hockey games to raise money for sports jackets. The Madill team is coached by former
Lnclmow Midget coach Larry Lane, a teacher at Madill.

Sunday's contest unfolded in much the
same way - a scoreless first period in which
Luemow out shot theopposition but could
not beat, good Paisley goalteriing. Steve
Huffman opened the scoring with the game
winner at 11.46 of the second assisted by
Donnie Murray, when he out skated the
• defenders and dribbled a back hander into
the bottom comer.

on Paisley in the best of five to decide the
OMHA playoff representative. The third
contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. February 20
in Paisley.
Last Wednesday's game in Paisley was a
close contest for two periods. In fact, after
a scoreless first ' period that featured
excellent goaltending by the Paisley net -
minder, Paisley soured two early in the
second and seemed in control.
Ludmow got on the score sheet with
about five .minutes left in the period when
Dan Gilchiist scored a power play marker
from Irwin. On their next shift, the line
scored again when Brad Priestap complet-
ed a play from Irwin and Gilchrist and the
tudmow_squad was lucky to head to the
break even at two.
Early in the third, . Dan Gilchrist gave
Llcmow the lead for the first time, again
on a power play from Irwin but Paisley kept
Brian Reavie quite busy in the nets:
Several key saves kept the team in the
game, although Paisley did score near the
mid point. The last 10 minutes was all
Ludmow as they scored four straight -
Gilchrist from Priestap and' :iiwin, Irwin
first assisted by Priestap and Gilduist, the
second assisted by Gilduist recording
their first post season shut out. In short,
the team scored on three of seven power
play opportunities in the Paisley game.
Goaltender Dean Lindsay tumed aside
32 „shots to 'record his shut out. Defense -
man Jeff Gibson had an excellent Sunday
game, controlling the puck well in his own
end in the third period.
Left winger .Chris Irwin lead the soarers
with four goals and four assists in the two
games. Steve de Jong (17) is the bravest
- man on the team.
