The meeting com- menced at 9.35 a.m. with Reeve Aitchison presiding and councillors Hickey and Todd present. Deputy Reeve Brindley arrived at 10.00 a.m. and Councillor Baynard at noon. The minutes of the January session were adopted as printed on motion of 'councillors Hickey arid Todd. Ray Hanna approached council with a request for support in his efforts to secure a trophy for the 4-H Conservation Club which he has been leading for the past five years. Hama hopes, with the trophy, that our area young people will become and remain more interested and aware of the need for conservation now and. in the future. Motion by councillors Todd and Hickey, That West Wavvanosh Township council hereby authorizes West Wawanosh representative to Maitland Valley Conser- vation Authority, Harold Errington, to approach the Authority with a request for funding for a trophy for the 4-H Conser- vation Club, Sheila Lawrence of Ontario Hydro made a short presentation concerning the location of tentative corridors being studied for the installation of one or two transmission lines from Bruce NPD to London. Lawrence informed council of the. nearest information ,meeting to be held at the Wingham Legion on Monday, March 11, 1985. - By-law 4-85; a Rating By-law to cover a We drainage loan, was given third reading and finally passed on motion of councillors Brindley and Hickey. The road superintendent discussed with council the reconstruction of the boundary which Colborne Township is proposing to begin in 1985. Road accounts in the amount of $13,922.03 were ordered paid on motion of councillors Hickey and Brindley. Motion by councillors Todd and Hickey, That the clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for applications for a person to count the dogs and sell dog tags in the township for the year 1985. A letter from Huron County planner, Cynthia Fisher, 'regarding the secondary plan was reviewed by council. IN THE NEWS Appoint coroner . Dr. Richard B. Treleaven of Incimo* has been appointed Coroner for the counties of Huron and Bruce to succeed the late Dr. J. C. McKim, Dr. Treleaven was appointed to the position by the solicitor general. of Ontario George W. Taylor, Q.C., effective immediately. INIMMIRIM1111.11.. The health unit's budget of $1.1 million is the largest approved to date. All budgets are subject to a final review by county council. The health unit's 1985 budget represents a 9.1 per cent increase over the 1984 budget. Huron's share of the budget is $291,563 com- pared to $267,032 last year which, is an in- crease of 9.2 per cent. The funding of additional salaries, for ex- ample increasing secretarial time and ' in- creasing the nutritionist time from half to full time, increased benefits, additional den- tal director fees and board members fees as well as more material and supplies caused the budget increase. The province of Ontario picks up the ma- jority of the health unit's costs. This year it is expected to pay.$874,689 while over $10,000 will come from other revenue. Administration, rents, equipment and travel account for other expenditures. The family planning department has a total budget of $56,669 which is a 2.2 per cent increase over the 1984 budget., This is totally funded by the provincial' govern- ment. The health unit's plumbing and environ- ment budget of $117,850 was also approved. While the 1985 budget represents an overall increase of 4.5 .per cent from last year's budget, the county's share only increased• 2.4 per cent. The county has been budgeted to pay $42,425 up from $41,440. The planning and development depart- ment's budget of $465,978 was approved.
