Midgets elimin.ate Teeswater
advance to WOAA final
Lucknow's Midget A hockey team elim-
inated Teeswater in their best of three
OMHA semi-final series two games to zip
by winning the second game 8 - 5 on
Sunday afternoon.
The local boys won the first game when
Dan Gilchrist scored in the final five
seconds of the game to break a tie and the
two teams were to meet in the second game
Friday night but stormy weather postponed
the game until Sunday.
The home team got off to .a very slow
'start, taking eight minor penalties in . the
first period that disrupted the flow of their
game. As a result, they were quickly
behind on the scoreboard as Teeswater
counted two powerplay goals and dominat-
ed the play.
Lucknow got on track briefly in the
second period with two goals in the first
five minutes but Teeswater held off the
challenge and came back strong. Although
they pressed for most of the period/ strong
goal tending by Lindsay in the Lucknow
nets held Teeswater to just one more goal
and the period ended 3 - 2 for Teeswater.
In the third period, the Lucknow team
started fast with three goals in the first two
minutes and took the lead for the first time:
Although the teams traded goals, Luck-
now's lead held as momentum swung to
the home team. In the period, they
outscored Teeswater 6 to 2 and ended the
game with a 8 - 5 'edge.

three goals and two. assists; Brad Priestap
counted three goals and one assist; Dan
Gilchrist notched two goals and two assists
and Steve Murray and Jeff Gibson had one
assist each.

a solid game perhaps a personal best. Goal
tender Dean Lindsay played with intensity
and concentration that deserved star
status. Right winger Dan Gilchrist seemed
to wear two sweaters during the game as
Teeswater's Jeff Baker (12) followed him
like a shadow. Although the team took too
many penalties in the first period, they saw
the light, taking only one in the second and
two in the third.
