DEAR SANTA, Please give some toys to needy children and for the adults some food and some clothes to the family becase that is the spirt of Christ mas. Pamela Morrison, Grade 5, Blyth Public School DEAR SANTA, I would like you to give people Children will reflect the holiday spirit The magic of Christmas is reflected in the spirit and enthusi- asmwhichshines in the faces of children delighting in the season. To keep the love of children a part of your holiday, there are many ways to give your time and care. • Offer to babysit for busy parents. Parents with 101 holiday errands to run would be delighted by an afternoon or day-long gift of babysitting. With children well taken care of, parents are free to shop together or prepare their home for the holidays. • Help children Christmas shop for their family. Children unable to shop alone would be pleased to have a non-family member assist them in hunting for little holiday surprisesfor their parents, sib lings. and grandparents. Your help in learning to wrap gifts would be appreciated too! •Takechildren to visitshut-ins. An elederly or convalescing neigh bour, unable to get out for the Christmas season, would be de lighted by a holiday visit from a neighbourhood child. As a special gesture, bring a small gift of holiday treats which the child could help to prepare. • Teach children the joy of giving. When counting blessings during the holidays, parents often remind their children about the millions of less fortunate children in the world. Children can learn the joy of sharing by making their own contributions to charities which care for children. Encourage a child to help around the house to “ earn ’ ’ money for the childn ’s own personal donation. A child can also select a toy or game from his or her toy box which can be wrapped and given to an organization which provides used toys for needy children at Christmas. The spirit of the holiday season can be kept alive through the year by little gifts of kindness we show oneanother, nomatterwhatthe age. that can't afford clothes or any thing some clothes and things they need. And I would like you to give people who can’t afford to pay the bills some money to pay for them and give everyone some Christmas Spiret.
