PAGE 17 The Grade Two class from Blyth Public School paid a welcome Christmas visit to Queens Village last week, to present the residents with Christmas tree decorations they had made and to sing a number of Christmas songs together. The visit was instigated by the Villa’s custodian Kathy Bromley, who is also setting up a pen-pal letter-writing campaign between students and residents. written co-operatively by the grade 2 class On December 17, the Grade 2 class from Blyth Public School, visited the Queens Villa Apart­ ments on Queen Street. They wanted to visit the residents and share some letters and pictures, and to give them each a salt and flour tree decoration they had made. Most of the decorations were wreaths or candy canes the students made in art and they were later baked and varnished. Ruby Philp, a resident, played the piano while everyone else joined in to sing Christmas Carols. Later each child introduced him­ self and said who their parents were and where they lived. It was a chance for everyone to get to know each other. Everyone wished each other a Merry Christmas. We greatly appreciate your friendship and good will! from BLAKE'S SEPTIC TANK SERVICE Brussels Jeanne & Kay School had their annual Christmas Concert. The opening number involved grades 1 to 3 singing some Christmas songs directed by Mrs. Little. After a few songs the kindergarten room put on a musical number entitled “Christ­ mas Is Coming’’. Mrs. Buffinga, the kindergarten teacher was very pleased with her students’ perfor­ mance. The next number in the program was put on by grades 1 and 2. Their musical play was entitled “Sea­ sons Greetings”. The audience enjoyed it immensely. Their teach­ ers are Mrs. BattyeandMrs. Little. Following the play, the senior choir, directed by Mrs. Little sang five Christmas numbers. Grades 3 and 4, classes of Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Charters put on a play called “Santa’s Back From the Future’’. The final number of the program included the 5, 6, 7 and 8 classes. They put on a musical production call “The Songfor Christmas”. The teachers, headed by Mrs. Hui ley and Mr. Black have to be congratulated for the excellent help they provided for the produc­ tion of this play. It was based on the history of the origin of the favourite Christmas Carol, “Silent Night.” Mrs. Shirley Vincent was the pianist for the evening. Everyone enjoyed her excellent accompani­ ment. SENIOR CITIZENS DAY OUT by Heidi Scrimgeour and Andrea Henry Ou Wednesday, December 16, 1987, avery exciting thing happen­ ed for some of the residents of Huronview and some senior resi­ dents of Blyth. The students assisted the residents to their seats in the gymnasium where they watched the dress rehearsal of the B.P.S. Christmas Concert. By their reaction they appeared to enjoy the students’ presentation. In the afternoon a dress rehear­ sal was held for the B.P.S. students. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I by Stephanie Lentz The students of Blyth Public School are being given a good long winter’s break this year. Their school days were over on Dec. 18, at 2:30 and resume on January 4, 1988.
