Phone 523-425U People Sympathy extended Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Good and Carl and Kathleen Longman on the death of their brother Henry Youngblut of Niagara Falls on December 10 at the age of 63. The funeralwasonMonday, December 14 at 1 p.m. Margaret and Russell Good and Kathleen spent Sunday and Monday in Niagara Falls. T.B. Allen Ltd., Alboro Eleva­ tors held their annual staff Christ­ mas party at the Stanley Twp. Complex at Varna on Saturday night. There were about 60 in attendance. Congratulations to Greg and Roxie Maize on the birth of their son, Adam Stanley Harold on Sunday, December 7 in Clinton Public Hospital, a brother for Doug and Bruce. Beth Knox visited on Wednes­ day, December 9 in London with hercousin Mrs. Ina Bamsey and on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Baan in New Hamburg. Gordon and Darlene Shobbrook and Diana and Mark Sjaarda visited on Sunday and attended the Open House at the home of Kim and John McComb at Hespler. The W.I. Christmas meeting was held December 9 at 2 p.m. in the hall. The president, Marg Anderson welcomed all and the meeting opened with the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada, with Hattie Wood at the piano. Marg gave a reading, “What is Christmas?’’ Roll call was answer­ ed with a family custom at Christmasbythe 20 people pre­ sent. The minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary­ treasurer Alice Buchanan. The treasurer’s report was also read. Thanks were received for the $100 donated to McDonald House and from Rosemary Armstrong for the donation to Huron Day Centre. Shut-in gifts are to be delivered by different members. It was moved to accept the catering job for the 4H leaders supper later in January. A Christmas program Carol sing held at Londesboro church David Lee heads Masonic Lodge The Masonic Lodge AF and AM No. 568 held their annual installa­ tion ceremony on December 10. A Christmas dream came true for little Cole Stewart, 2, of Blyth last week when his name was drawn as the winner of the giant chocolate Santa that was raffled by the Blyth Mini Mart. Cole Is the son of Karen and Ken Stewart. Greeting on Sunday at the Londesboro United Church was Clara Riley. Ushers were Harvey Hoggart, Allan Bosman, Ed Sal- verda and Bert Lyon. The hymn carol-sing began at 11 a.m. The children collected the family pictures and they were placed on the tree. Rev. Snihur welcomed all and gave the call to worship and the announcement. Next Sunday the service will be at 11:15. The carol hymn-sing was led by Jim Thompson and the pianist was Deanna Lyon. Next Sunday will be the family Christmas service. On Christmas Eve at 8 p.m. there will be a special time of worship with the people of Auburn in the Church. The lighting of the third advent candle was done by Rick and Shirley Archambault. The child­ ren’s song, “Go tell it on the mountain’’ was sung. Junior tea­ cher was Yvonne Hoggart. The story was, “Christmas is not what you get.’’ Rev. Snihur gave each one a candy gift. They were to give it away to an adult. The scripture reading was from Isaiah about promulgation of the Gospel. From Luke 21, signs of Christ’s coming was read by Caron Snihur. The scripture lesson was from Thesalonians about the se­ cond coming of Christ and was read by Rev. Snihur. The sermon was about Jesus coming again. Advent means coming. Following the service all went to the Sunday School for the pot luck dinner prepared by the Life and Work Committee. Everyone was welcomed by Don McGregor. It was followed by games for child­ ren. Santa Claus paid them a visit. was enjoyed. Hymn, “While the Shepherds watched their flocks.’’ was'sung. Rev. Snihur gave the message from the Gosepl of John on the lights of Christmas and childlike memories. Hymns, “Away in a Manger” and “Silent Night, Holy Night” were sung. Marg Ander­ son thanked Dave and presented him with a basket of fruit. Florence Miller from Clinton made a number of corsages and other floral arrangements which was very interesting. She was thanked and presented with a gift by Doreen Carter. Helen Lawson gave a reading about Christmas for every heart, show love to each. A lovely Christmas lunch was served by Doreen Carter, Rene Snell and Romona Jamieson OUT!! ^1 running Christmas is coming fast with only two weeks left.
