Phone XH7-6677 Walton Unit holds Christmas smorgasbord The Sunday School room of Duff s United Church was decorat­ ed in the Christmas Spirit for the Christmas meeting of Walton 1 unit on Wednesday evening, Decem­ ber 9. The losing side of the copper contest was in charge of arrange­ ments. A delicious smorgasbord was enjoyed prior to the meeting. Margery Huether played Christ­ mas music while people were arriving. Devotional period with the call to worship was opened by Berva Watson, assisted by Phyllis Mit­ chell and Janice McEwing. Christ­ mas Carols were sung accompani­ ed by pianist. Elva Wilbee. Gloria Wilbee sang two beautiful solos, ”1’11 be home for Christmas” and “I’m Dreaming of a White Christ­ mas." Marie McGavin conducted the business period, opening with a reading, “Christmas time is here.” Audrey Hackwell read minutes and Doreen Hackwell the treasurer's report. Offering was received and dedicated. Marie mentioned U.C.W. pins are still available as well as three calen­ dars. In the announcements of coming events is the installation of U .C. W. officers Sunday, January 3. The Annual Congregational meeting follows a pot luck dinner after the morning church service at 11:30 a.m.onJanuaryl7. There was a discussion on doing quilts so the group may not take on as many quilts to be done by outsiders next year. The evening closed with an exchange of gifts in charge of Betty McCall and Mary Humphries. Counting sheep, five-year-old Amanda Ten Pas of Brussels and Reverend Charles Carpentier discuss the wooly creatures on sale at the annual Children’s Christmas Bazaar, held at the Brussels United Church on December 5. Children can choose special gifts for family and friends at the bazaar, and get volunteers to help wrap them up. Parents, grandparents and friends attended the annual Sun­ day School Concert Sunday after­ noon in the basement of Duff’s United Church. Glenda Carter played Christmas Carols preced­ ing the program. Rev. Bonnie Lamble was master of ceremonies for the program which included the nursery child­ ren, Robbie McClure, Trisha McClure, Jennifer McClure, Sarah McDonald, Scott McDonald, Ke­ vin Wilbee and Mark Wilbee on stage with their blankets as Gloria Wilbee sang “Security” with guitar accompaniment. Teachers are Michelle and Heather Gauley. Chris Davies gave a guitar instrumental, “Frosty, the Snow­ man.” Junior choir sang “Have a Merry, Merry Christmas”. Direc­ tor was Rev. Bonnie Lamble, pianist Marion Godkin, choir consisted of Cindy McCallum, Colleen McCallum, Lee Ann Mc­ Donald, Lisa Gingerich, Andrea Gingerich, Sharon Godkin, Shann­ on Craig, Sarah Lamble, Barb Lamble. Piano solo was played by Sarah Lamble, “Jingle Bell Rock”. Lee Ann McDonald played “Away in a Manger” and “Jolly old St. Nicholas”. Kindergarten class marching to music included Scott McDonald, Kelly McDonald, Kerrie McClure, Darryl Houston, Katie Emmrich, Jamie Emmrich, Tina McClure, Jillian Houston, Darrell McClure, Janice McCallum, Kenny McCal­ lum, Theresa McClory. Recita­ tions were given by Jillian Hous­ ton, Katie Emmrich, Kelly Me- Donald, Jamie Emmrich, Janice McCallum, Theresa McClory, Tina McClure, Kerrie McClure. Teach­ er Maxine Marks, helpers JoAnn Mcdonald, Gloria Wilbee and Heidi McClure. Piano solos were played by Shannon Craig, ‘‘O Christmas Tree” and Liz Lamble, ‘‘Deck the Halls.” The primary class presented a play, ‘‘A Christmas Dream” and sang ‘‘Nuttin’ for Christmas”, taking part were Valerie Collins, Colleen McCallum, Chad McCal­ lum, Shannon Davies, Neil Saur, Randy Linton, Stacey Linton, Lee Ann McDonald, Sarah Lamble and Lisa Gingerich. The teachers are Betty McCallum and Donna Mc­ Clure. Piano solos by Lori Mcclure, ‘‘The First Noel” and Sharon Godkin ‘‘Santa Claus is coming to town” were played. The junior choirs presented a skit, ‘‘Lost and Found”. Tony played by Chris Davies; Jenny by Shannon Craig; Jenny’s mom, CoIleenCollins; Michael, Chris Saur. A monologue, “Oral Repor- tifis” was given by Sharon Godkin. A skit, ‘‘The boy with the ‘‘Wait” problem” was presented by Cindy McCallum as Danny and Barb Lamble as Dave. A monolo­ gue, ‘‘Outfield Lori” was well given by Lori McClure. Class members are Cindy McCallum, Chris Saurs, Chris Davies, Sharon Godkin, Andrea Gingerich, Shan­ non Craig, Heather Eckel, Michael Craig, Lori McClure, Barb Lamble, Colleen Collins. Teachers are Helen Craig and Dianne McCal­ lum. The Senior class with teacher Maxine Houston presented a Pantomine, ‘‘Noah’s Ark”.Taking part were Susan Carter, Randy McClure and Liz Lamble along with helpers from the audience who were the two of each animals that went unto Noah’s Ark. Everyone joined in with several carols. Jingle Bells brought the Jolly old fellow Santa Claus which pleased every child, giving out a bag of candies. Rev. Bonnie Lamble expressed her thanks to all the teachers and children who had worked so hard to put on the concert, wishing everyone A Merry Christmas. In the business, minutes were read, reports given, one thank you card was read and one gift given. Hostessesfor comingyear were discussed and some volunteered for various months.
