Children conduct 'Christmas in Song' church service “Christmas in Song” was pre sented in Blyth United Church by the senior, intermediate and junior choirs and the Sunday School under the leadership of Margaret Kai. Every member of the Sunday School participated. The pageant was introduced by Susan Howson, Sunday School Superintendent. Crystal Cucksey, Erin Bolger, Tammy Medd, Laurie Wharton and Julie Bromley were narrators and Rhonda Stadelmann led in prayer. The service began with “The African Noel” by the choirs with Jim Lawrie as the drummer. Rev. Ramirez lit the second advent candle. The combined choirs sang “In Excelsius Gloria”. The junior and intermediate choirs sang. ‘ ‘The Donkey Song ”. All the choirs united to sing “Away in a Manger” Rev. L. Rameriz sang “No Ordinary Child”. The senior choir sang “Song of the Angel". The intermediate sang “Still, Still, Still" and the senior choir sang "Virgin Mary had a baby. ’' The combined choirs sang. “His name, His name”. The setting for the pageant was impressive. The choirs with their white and blue gowns, and a huge bluebackdrop with the pageant title in shiny tinsel decorated letters on it. The church was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season with garlands of evergreen and red bows and two white mums in memory of Del New dental director sought for Huron, Perth BY WAYNE STUBBS Three reports presented to the Huron County Council meeting in the county court house in Goderich on Thursday, December 3 were virtually passed without discus sion. When the Board of Health report was brought before the 31 -member council (one member was absent) the members were asked to approve the re-advertisement of the Case Manager’s job. The reason given for again advertising the position was that no satisfac tory replies had been received to an earlier advertisement. In one part of the report Dr. M. Bokhout, medical officer of health told the council members that a Philp and Leslie Wightman. Since this was also White Gift Sunday, the children brought gifts wrapped in white suitable for “Survival House” at Goderich. Every child was in costume and at appropriate times between the choir numbers Mary and Joseph, troops of beautifully dressed an new dental director is to be appointed to oversee both Huron and Perth Counties. Presently there is no one performing that duty and there are some candi dates being considered by Perth County Council. Huron County would have the same person doing a similar job. “The successful applicant would have similar status to the Medical Officer of Health," Dr. Bokhout said. On the subject of staff education the doctor said that staff frequently have to upgrade their education. “It’s an evolutionary process that people should take more courses at regular times so they can be up to date on their knowledge, ” he said. gels, stars, wise men and shep herds came up the centre aisle of the church to take their place on the platform. Four boys from the grade 5 and 6 class acted as ushers, and follow ing the service, boys of 7and 8 class gave candy bags to all the children. The Waste Management Steer ing Committee report was accept ed intact. The only question came from Gerry Prout, reeve of Us- borne Township who asked how many proposals were being sub mitted for consultants concerning waste management. He was told eight proposals had been request ed and the committee would give three or four of them further consideration. The Committee of Management of Huronview report was also accepted. One issue which raised a few eyebrows was the request by an employee for a leave of absence. That was denied and county council agreed with the committee recommendation. The service ended by all singing, “JoyToThe World". Margaret Kai presided at the organ with Donna Walsh at the piano. Susan Howson thanked the many who helped make this beautiful presentation successful. Deanna and Harvey Snell were the greeters. Council members were asked if they or people from the county had some free time over the Christmas period to visit Huronview and see some of the residents. ** 4c Me >|c Cabbages, carrots and onions grow throughout the province of Ontario.
