After two losing efforts Brussels Bulls rebounded with a 10-0 romp over Clinton Mustangs Sunday afternoon at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Brussels outshot Clinton 45-16. Weekend ends upbeat for Bulls Crusaders win 2 BYLOISMcARTER Hockey kept the Junior Bulls occupied this past weekend play­ ing three games. Friday night had them at home to the visiting Wellesley Applejacks. The Applejacks were out to revenge their 6-1 loss of two weeks ago. They opened the scoring after nine minutes of play in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Bulls came back with 6:44 left on the clock when Kevin McArter scored on a pass from Bill Haines and Tim Fritz. After 20 minutes of play the score was tied at one. The teams had played another nine minutes of the second period whenthe Bulls’ Bill Kerr scored from Bill Haines to give Brussels the lead for the first time. It took another five minutes of play before Wellesley scored to tie the game. The remainder of the period was scoreless with the second period ending in a 2-2 tie. The same end-to-end action continued in the third period until 12:48 was on the clock when Wellesley took the lead on a power-pl ay goal. They added to that lead at 8:55 and again 41 seconds later at 8:41 to make the spread a three-goal difference. The Bulls rebounded at 6:05 on a power play goal when Tim Fritz scored from Kevin McArter and Greg Crummer. Greg Crummer scored from Stuart Bowman just 29 seconds later for a short-handed goal to bring the Bulls back within one. Wellesley added a goal with 1:04 on the clock and again with just 49 seconds to claim a 7-4 victory. The visitors out-shot the Bulls 31-20 keeping goalie Jeff McGavin busy in net. BOMBED IN THEDFORD The Bulls travelled to Thedford on Saturday night to play the Lumberjacks first period to take a 1- 0 lead. Brussels scored at 1:12 into the second period when Ron Strome scored from Tim Fritz and Bill Haines to tie the score. The Lumberjacks scored mid­ way through the period and held a 2- 1 lead when the period was over. Thedford scored seven goals between 19:09 and 5(15 of the third period! take a sound 9-1 lead. Ron Strome came through at 3:19 to score from Bill Haines and Mike Vincent and just 16 seconds later scored his third goal from Mike Vincent to complete the scoring for the game and give Thedford their 9-3 victory. Goalie Greg McClement had 51 shots fired at him while Thedford goalie only had 27 shots to control. ROMP OVER CLINTON Sunday afternoon had the Bulls at home to the visiting Clinton Mustangs who are struggling to improve as the season progresses. Brian Campbell opened the scoring two minutes into the game on passes from Ron Strome and Mike Vincent. Three minutes later Stuart Bouman scored from Tim Fritz with Kevin Me Arter scoring just 10 seconds later from Bill Kerr. Greg Crummer scored from Mike Chapman and Rob McMillan at 12:48 It was 3:53 when defenceman Bill Haines scored from Crummer and Chapman and 1:30 when Tim Fritz scored from Kevin McArter and Bill Kerr to complete the Appliances Electric Razors Tools Giftwares Gore’s Home Hardware [ Blyth 523-9273 7 We re a Blyth Bucks Store scoring in the first period with Brussels holding a 6-0 lead. The second period had the Clinton goalie having 19 shots fired at hime but held Brussels to three goals. Bill Haines scored from Ron Stromeat 13:45, Ron Chambers from Mike Chapman and Paul Edwards at 11:01 and Kevin McArter from Tim Fritz and Greg Crummer with 2:44 remaining in the period. Play slowed in the third period with only one goal being scored. Ron Strome scored from Brian Campbell and Kevin Lee to get the single marker. Brussels out-shot Clinton 45-16 to pick up their 10-0 victory. The Bulls will be at home to old rivals, the Exeter Hawks, Wednes­ day (tonight) for an 8:45 p.m. start. Friday night will have them returning to Clinton for an 8 p.m. start. Sunday afternoon will have Belmont in town to play at 2 p.m. The $50 lottery draw made for this week was won by Sheila Smith of Listowel. The 50-50 draw for $31 was won by Sue Nichol of Brussels. Shop Home for Christmas ^tcimtoown Over the weekend the Brussels Crusaders came up with two important wins toimprove their record to three wins against two losses. On Saturday night the Crusa­ ders started slowly against Athur and fell behind 2 toO. Brian TenPas scored an unassisted goal late in thefirstperiod tocutthe Arthur lead to one goal. Late in the second period the Crusaders came to life and started to storm the Arthur goal. Hard work paid off as David Stephenson tied the score on passes from Randy Clarke and Stewart Cardiff. Troy Pocaluyko put the Crusaders ahead to stay late in the period on passes from Dave Montgomery and Brian TenPas. Ken Cousins upped Brussels’ lead to two goals in the first minute of the third period as he converted a pass from Dave Stephenson. Two minutes later Arthur narrowed the lead to 4 to 3. Brian TenPas re-established the Crusaders two goal lead as he scored on passes from Dave Montgomery and Troy Pocaluyko. Dave Stephenson scor­ ed his second goal of the game on passes from Ken Cousins and Hugh Hanly. Brian TenPas scored the hat-trick with an unassisted goal to up the Crusaders lead to 7 to 3. Arthur completed the scoring with a powerplay goal. The Crusaders outshot Arthur 35 to 23 in the game. On Sunday night the Crusaders were home to face the St. Clements Saintwhoedged Brussels4 to3 earlier in the schedule. The Crusaders made it quite clear early in the game that they were out for revenge. Brussels owned the first period outscoring St. Clements 4 to 0. Dave Stephenson converted a pass from Hugh Hanly in the first minute of play. Kevin Deitner continued the Crusaders quick start as he scored two minutes later on passes from Troy Pocaluyko and Paul Johnston. Stewart Cardiff upped Brussels’ lead to three, scoring on a screen shot with an assist going to Kevin Deitner. In the second period Brussels continued to take the game to St. Clements outshooting them 17 to8. However good goaltending held the Crusaders’ scoring to one goal. Toy Pocaluyko scored midway through the period on passes from Stewart Cardiff and Mike Watson to increase the Crusader lead to 5 - 0. The Crusaders continued their domination in the third period outshooting St. Clements 17 to 4. Kevin Deitner scored his second goal of the game on a pass from Trevor Pocaluyko. Late in the period Troy Pocaluyko scored two goals 21 seconds apart to give him the hat-trick for the night. On the first goal he converted a pass from Kevin Deitner and on the other goal assists went to Brian TenPas and Len Stamper. The Crusaders outshot St. Clements 42 to 22 in the game. Ron Smith played a steady game in goal for the Crusaders to register the shut-out. TheCrusaders continue their December homestand with two games next weekend. On Saturday night the Crusaders play Milverton at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, they face the Seaforth Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. Curling dub ends first draw Thefirst draw of the Brussels Curling Club ended on Monday, November 30. The first place with 47 points was the team of Brad Speiran, Nora Stephenson, Bill Patterson and Ralph Watson. Second place with 46.5 pts. wenttoHoward Hack­ well, Joyce Alexander, Andy Ives and Doris Mitchler. Third prize with 44 pts. was won by Ross Veitch, Madelene Steiss, Tom Warwick and Bill Patterson. Fourth prize with 39 pts. went to the team of Ron Clarkson, Pauline Patterson, Stewart Steiss and Valerie Watson.
