Dave Snihur conducted the morning service at Knox United Church. Organist was Mrs. Gord­ on Gross. “Joy To The World’’ was sung. The Call to Worship was read 6 tables in play at Auburn There were six tables in play at the euchre party held on November 24 at the Auburn Community Hall. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Brennan; low lady, Anne Glou- sher; high man, Murray Rollison; Belgrave Compiled by Mrs. Helen Stonehouse. Phone 887-9487 Belgrave UCW makes donations The general meeting of the Belgrave U.C.W. was held on Thursday, November 26 in the Sunday School room. The President, Mrs. Harold Vincent, conducted the business. Donations of $25 each were made to Family and Children Services, Survival through Friendship House, the United Church Re­ source Centre, Alma College, Seeds for Zaire and Medical Electives, the latter two both projects of the U.C.W. The sum of $100 was to be sent to the World Development and Relief Fund of the United Church. Year-end reports were given and the nominating committee presen­ ted the following slate of officers for 1988: past president, Mrs. Harold Vincent; president, Mrs. Ross Higgins; 1st vice president, position not filled; 2nd vice presi­ dent, Mrs. James Hunter; treasur­ er, Mrs. Leslie Shaw; stewardship and finance, Mrs. Florence McAr- ter; secretary and communica­ tions, Mrs. James Hunter; assis­ tant secretary, Mrs. Ross Ander­ 8 tables at Belgrave euchre Eight tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the Women’s Institute Hall, Bel­ grave, November 25. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. George Drehmann; novelty lady, People around Belgrave Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton spent the weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby and Mrs. Laura Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse visited on Thursday with Mrs. Agnes Walker of Goderich. Family celebrates baptism Following the baptism of Amy Alisha Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cook at Knox United Church, Belgrave, Sunday, Nov­ ember 15, a dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cook. Special guests were Mrs. Joe Dunbar, great-grandmother and Mr. Kenneth Davis, great-grand­ father, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. NormanCook and Mr. and Mrs. William Coultes. The worship service with Advent as the theme was conducted by Mrs. OliveBoltand Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. A presentation of the 14 symbols of Adventwas given. Miss Pamela Shaw sang two Christmas solos. A stewardship program consisted of a film-strip entitled ‘ ‘The Names of Money’ ’, followed by discussion and the reading of an article on Stewardship by Mrs. Harold Vincent. There will be euchre again December 2 starting at 8 p.m. Mr. Bert Johnston is a patient in University Hospital, London. Michael Mali of Holyrood re­ turned to his home this past week after being a patient in Westmini­ ster Children’s Hospital, London, for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Taylor of Belgrave are his grandparents. HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION OF ONTARIO Langford. The prayer chorus was sung followed by prayers of thanksgiving and concern. The choir sang an anthem. The sermon was given by Don Langford who was visiting the service and spoke on “Mission of The Church’’. The offering was received by Bill Seers and Brian Ramsey followed by Offeratory Response. The hymn, “As with Gladness Men of Old” was sung.
