Phone 887-6677 Peace chosen theme of Walton UCW meeting i Walton 1 unit of the U.C.W. November meeting was held in the church basement Wednesday evening when 17 members an­ swered the roll call on ‘Pass the Peace’. Gloria Wilbee opened the meet­ ing and followed the theme ‘ * Peace passeth all understanding.” The hymn, *‘O God our help in ages past” was sung with Doreen Hackwell as pianist. Gloria gave a very timely message on the Promised Land and showed a video of what had happened since the forties, the history of the world. It showed of different memorials, remember­ ing the past. Donna McClure read anarticleon a second world war hero and Olene Dennis closed this part of the meeting with prayer. Marie McGavin presided for the business opening with a poem, “The World has need for you.” Minutes were read by Audrey Hackwell and treasurer’s report was given by Doreen Hackwell. The report of the copper contest leaders was given with a pot luck supper decided for the December meeting with a gift exchange. The Rebekah Lodge honours former member Morning Star Rebekah Lodge held their regular meeting with a good attendance. Noble Grand Leona Connelly was in charge of the meeting. The charter was draped in memory of the late Irene Pease. A request was received from Family and Children’s services for a donation. The Noble Grand offered to attend a meeting in Clinton Nov. 12 about a Pilgrimage for Youth. ’ ’ Lillian Moses, Vice Grand, read a report from the Humanitarian Services committee showing it to be quite active giving cash dona­ tions to those in need as well as the loaning of hospital beds, wheel U.C.W. general meeting is called for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2 for a pot luck supper. Pictures are to be taken of the groups to put in a book that is being made for the 25th anniversary of the U.C.W. All former members are to be asked to attend this special occasion. Dates to remember were an­ nounced. Next Sunday, Murray Gaunt will be guest speaker at Duff’sChurch. Communion will be observed on Sunday, November 29. New programs will be made up for the unit meetings for the coming year. The meeting closed with ‘Faith of our Fathers’ followed by lunch served by Gloria Wilbee, Donna McClure and Olene Dennis. Wa/to/7 WZ serves lunch It ’s the noon luncheon at the hall this Wed. At 8:15 the Institute meets for their monthly meeting. Members are reminded to bring a grandmother or a guest. There will be a demonstration. Thursday evening euchre starts at 8 p.m. in the hall. GOING SOUTH? Tickets were to be sold on a hand-knit sweater, crocheted kitchen ornament, and a floral basket, to be drawn at the Christmas party. After lodge closing, a social time was held when tickets were given to each person present and a draw made for a lovely crocheted Christmas tree, donated and made by Ada Brittain. Marie Turnbull was the lucky winner. Lunch was served by Mary Davidson and her committee.
