Noticing water bubbling up at the side of Mill St. he thought it was a broken valve on a water main and started digging to repair the problem. The mystery unfolded when he came across a small pipe with water spouting out of it. The area was served from a private community well before municipal waterwasputinthe 1950’s and councillors speculated that it may be a pipe from that well. Though the well was capped and the water shouldn’t be coming from that, speculation was that perhaps the town water might have been tapped into the old piping system ana that it might actually be water from a watermain that is coming out of the pipe. The mystery continues until town crews can investigate further. ***** Maitland Engineering Services of Wingham has completed a proposal for council to submit to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) over the reconstruction of Blyth’s main street and council will meet to discuss the plans with rhe engineer at a special meeting Nov. 26.
