Sheila L. Anderson graduated
with an honors Bachelor of Busi
ness Administration degree (co
operative program - marketing
major) from Wilfred Laurier Uni
versity during its fall convocation
held Nov. 1 at the Kitchener
Memorial Auditorium. She is now
employed as a market analyst for
the Ontario Bean Producers Mar
keting Board, London. Sheila is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Ross
Anderson, Belgrave.
Baptism held
Laura Jane Matheson, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Matheson
was baptized on Sunday, Novem
ber 8th in St. Andrews Presbyter
ian Church, Molesworth. Attend

Mrs. Mabel Wheeler attended
the 1987 Education Conference,
Canadian Cancer Society, October
23-25, held at the Toronto Airport
Marriott Hotel.
The theme for the approximately
four hundred volunteers was “Yes
We Can - Beat Cancer.”

Award as Champion 4-H Beef
Showman at the Seaforth Fair.

weekly euchre held in the W.I.
Hall, Belgrave, November 4.
Winners were: high lady, Mrs.
Edna Adams; low lady, Mrs. Alma
Jardine; novelty lady, Mrs. Helen
Martin; door prize lady, Mrs. Jean
Pattison; high man, Leslie Vin
cent; low man, Mrs. Agnes Gaunt
(playing as a man); novelty man,
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor (playing as a
man); door prize, man, Robert
Grasby.
There will be euchre November
11 starting at 8 p.m. Everyone is
welcome.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent
attended the funeral of a dear
friend Mrs. William Gordon in
Listowel, Monday, November 9.
The late Mrs. Gordon (Charlotte
Tanner) was principal of West
wood School in Oakville w.hen
Edith taught there.
Mrs. Harold (Grace) Procter of
Ingersoll, formerly of Belgrave
passed away on Sunday, Novem
ber 8 in the Ingersoll Hospital,
Belgrave friends and neighbours
extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs.
John Spivey (nee Margaret Proc
ter) and their family and also to
Procter relatives.
Charles Procter who has been a
patient in University Hospital was
able to return to his home on
Friday, November 6.
Steven Coultes was presented
with the “Lincoln Player of the
Month Award” just prior to the St.
Marys Lincoln-Sarnia Bee hockey
game last Friday night in St.
Marys. St. Marys won the game 2-1
and thus increased their lead over
second place Sarnia to five points in
the Western Junior B Hockey
League.
Robert Gordon, whois attending
Fanshawe College in London,
spent the weekend with his parents
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gordon and
sister Margie.
Wayne Munick, Edwin, Cather
ine and Jennifer of Kitchener
visited on Sunday, November 8
with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Hanna.
Evening UCW
unit to cater
to dinner
The November meeting of the
Evening Unit of the U.C.W. was
held in the church school room with
ladies from the Afternoon Unit as
guests.
The evening began with a pot
luck supper followed by the
worship service given by Mrs.
John McIntosh assisted by Mrs.
Laura Johnston and Mrs. Ross
Anderson having as the theme
* ‘ Remembrance Day”. During the
business period it was decided to
cater to the Women’s Institute
Christmas dinner and subscribe to
the Canadian Geographic for the
hospital.
The roll call was answered by 23
ladies with a Remembrance Day
verse.
The program was given by Mrs.
John Roberts assisted by Mrs.
James Hunter and Mrs. Harold
Vincentandconsisted of letters
from Veterans and a film on
Remembrance Day. Mrs. Kenneth
Wheeler read the poem “Why
Wear a Poppy” and the meeting
closed with prayer.
The Belgrave Women’s Insti
tute will hold an Educational
meeting Tuesday, November 17 at
8:15 p.m. in the W.I. Hall. Ms.
Dorene Cardiff of the Ministry of
Natural Resources will be the guest
speaker and will have as her topic,
“Rabies”. Both men and women
are welcome to attend this meet
ing.
The W.M.S. of Knox Presbyter
ian Church held their meeting on
Monday at the home of Mrs. Mac
Scott.
She presided and opened with a
call to worship. “Onward Christian
Soldiers’’, was read in unison.
Mrs. Garner Nicholson read scrip
ture and Mrs. Ivy Cloakey read a
meditation on “Patriotism.” Mrs.
Alan Dunbar led in prayer. Each
lady brought a story or poem on the
subject of RemembranceDay or
Thanksgiving Day which was very
interesting.
The secretary Mrs. McBurney
read her report and Mrs. Clockey
gave the financial report. Seven
members were present and an
swered the roll call on Remem
brance. Thirty sick and shut-in
calls were recorded. Mrs. Cloakey
is to order the World Day of Prayer
services. Mrs. Nicholson will
preside the December meeting.
Mrs. McBurney read a poem,
“Remember Her.” “Stand Up,
Stand Up for Jesus” was read and
Mrs. Scott closed the meeting with
a prayer. Mrs. McBurney extend
ed a Thank You to Mrs. Scott and
the hostess served lunch.
