Greg Wilson of the Optimist Club approached council for per mission to erect a lighted sign at the corner of the Medical Dental Centre property near the bridge on Turnberry Street. The one reserva tion was by Councillor Malcolm Jacobs who wondered if the group had contacted the Medical-Dental Centre board. Clerk-treasurer Hugh Hanly said he had spoke to several board members and they had no objection. Mr. Millson said the cost of the sign was about $3,000 and the Optimists would pick up the entire costs. The sign will have the Optimist name across the bottom. It will be on a post high enough off the ground to discourage people stealing the letters. “Ithinkit’sagoodidea,” Reeve Gordon Workman said and coun cillors volunteered to have the village pick up the cost of the electricity for the lighted sign. The sign will advertise coming events for non-profit community groups.
