Morris snow plow tender awarded Morris Township council has accepted the tender submitted by John McKercher of RR 2, Bluevale for winter plowing on Concessions 3 and 4 and in the hamlet of Belgrave for the 1987-88 season. At $42 per hour and $18 per day standby. Mr. McKercher’sbid was the lowest of the three tenders received. The standby period runs from November 15 to March 31. At the same meeting, council approved the hiring of Ross Goll of RR 4. Wingham, to act as landfill site supervisor while the regular employee. Adam Smith, is on temporary leave of absence. Mr. Goll will be paid at the rate of $7 per hour. In other business. Reeve Doug Fraser was appointed as the official representativeof Morris Township at the Remembrance Day cere­ monies at the Brussels Legion on November 11. Reeve Fraser will lay a wreath at the centotaph during the 11 a.m. memorial observance. The following building permits wereapproved: William Van Beek, Concession 7, for a storage shed; John and Linda Campbell, Bel­ grave, for a storage shed; John Marks, for a new residence in Belgrave; William and Sally Ri­ chards, Concession 6, for a manure storage facility; and to Keith Johnston. Concession 1, for a silo. Before adjourning at 8 p.m. in order that the entire council could attend a meeting with four other municipalities in Blyth to discuss the proposed Blyth Community Centre agreement, council review­ ed the new recreation survey. The survey has since been mailed to every household in the township, and the returned results will be used to assist in determin­ ing a fair assessment to Morris ratepayers for the use of various recreational facilities in the area. Clerk-treasurer Nancy Michie asks that all survey forms be completed and returned by Nov­ ember 10, so that the information can be compiled as quickly as possible. The next meeting of council was slated for 7:30 p.m. on November 3. Fruits, veggies make up menu at 4-H meets The last two meetings of the Londesboro 4H club were held at Elizabeth Lawson’s and at the Londesboro Hall. At the first meeting, the pledge and roll call were given. Everyone presented a speech about an Ontario fruit and guidelines on how to make delicious salads were discussed. The 4H leaders, Sandra Mayberry and Elizabeth Lawson showed members how to unmold jelly salads and gave examples of vegetables garnishes. At the last meeting in the hall, parents and 4H members gathered to say the 4H pledge and play a find-a-word game. Speeches were repeated and a film called ‘Gar­ bage in the Gut’ was shown. Punch, garnishes, vegetables and fruit jellied salads were sampled by everyone as each member was responsible for mak­ ing specific jellies and vegetables. This club was an advantage to anyone who took it and all 4H members thank their leaders for leading the club. CLEAN-UP BRIGADE Put yukkies in their place!
