Blyth United Church celebrated
the 25th anniversary of their
building on September 25.
The Rev. Cecil Wittich who
ministered here for 12 years was
the special speaker. In the morning
service he dealt with “The funda
mentals of the Faith” saying that
the church is a family and they
must care for each other. He
reminded us that in the early days
of Christianity people would say
“See how much those Christians
love one another”. He said “There
is no such thing as an isolated
Christian”.
‘‘If we profess Christ we mu st
support His Church and have real
concern for all its members,” he
stated.
In the evening service he spoke
on ‘‘The glory and grace of the
gospel”. ‘‘Gospel means good
news - do we really know the
privilege we have in sharing the
good news that God promises
salvation or wholeness to all who
believe”, he asked.
The Church was beautifully
decorated with mums and silver
accents. There was very special
music with Margaret Kai at the
organ and Donna Walsh at the
piano. The senior choir sang “Sing
to the Lord” and the “Wonder of it
all”. The intermediate and junior
choir sang “Sing about Sunshine”
and “A Hymn of Promise” in the
morning. Julie Howson enriched
the services with her trumpet
music.Sheplayeda‘‘Medleyof
Hymns” in the morning and ‘ ‘Take
time to be Holy” in the evening.
Sharon Wittch sang “There’s a
sweet sweet Spirit’ ’ at the evening
service. Ushers were Mr. and Mrs.
Doug Howson, and Mr. and Mrs.
Reg. Badley. Greeters at the door
were Mr. and Mrs. H. McDowell.
