Couple wed at Wingham McARTER-ZIMMER Wingham United Church was the setting Sept. 26, 1987 for the marriage of Gary William McArter to Kimberly Ann Zimmer. Rev. Rea Grant officiated. The bride is the daughter of Ron and Shirley Zimmer, 161 Shuter St., Wingham and the groom is the son of Mrs. Florence McArter, RR 4, Brussels. The bride wore a satin dress with lace bodice, short sleeves and a train and she carried a bouquet of pink roses and babies breath. She was attended by Mrs. Brenda Ryan of Brussels as matron of honour and bridesmaids, Mrs. Jill Shol- dice, Kitchener; Cheryl Burchill, Wingham; Joanne Weishar of Listowel and Pam McLellan of Brussels. The attendants wore pink-satin, cocktail-length dress­ es. Flowergirl was Sarah McLellan of Brussels. Best man was Paul McArter of Brussels. Ushers were Dan Mc­ Kay, Brussels; Paul Weishar, Listowel; Brian White, Brussels and Rob Zimmer, Wingham. They wore grey tuxedoes with pink carnation boutonnieres. Blyth United celebrates 25th anniversary of building Following the ceremony a recep­ tion was held at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Out of town guests attend­ ed from Tobermory, Guelph, Burlington, Goderich and Kitchen­ er. Following a wedding trip to Jamaica the couple took up residence at RR 4, Brussels. Blyth United Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of their building on September 25. The Rev. Cecil Wittich who ministered here for 12 years was the special speaker. In the morning service he dealt with “The funda­ mentals of the Faith” saying that the church is a family and they must care for each other. He reminded us that in the early days of Christianity people would say “See how much those Christians love one another”. He said “There is no such thing as an isolated Christian”. ‘‘If we profess Christ we mu st support His Church and have real concern for all its members,” he stated. In the evening service he spoke on ‘‘The glory and grace of the gospel”. ‘‘Gospel means good news - do we really know the privilege we have in sharing the good news that God promises salvation or wholeness to all who believe”, he asked. The Church was beautifully decorated with mums and silver accents. There was very special music with Margaret Kai at the organ and Donna Walsh at the piano. The senior choir sang “Sing to the Lord” and the “Wonder of it all”. The intermediate and junior choir sang “Sing about Sunshine” and “A Hymn of Promise” in the morning. Julie Howson enriched the services with her trumpet music.Sheplayeda‘‘Medleyof Hymns” in the morning and ‘ ‘Take time to be Holy” in the evening. Sharon Wittch sang “There’s a sweet sweet Spirit’ ’ at the evening service. Ushers were Mr. and Mrs. Doug Howson, and Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Badley. Greeters at the door were Mr. and Mrs. H. McDowell. 9 tables at Blyth Lost Heir Party Nine tables were in play on Oct. 21 at the weekly Lost Heir card party at Blyth Memorial Hall. High scores for the evening were recorded by Dorothy Daer and Bert Daer. Low scores went to Gene Snell and Feme Howatt.
