Presenting the first copy of “Chez Evalena’’ to Mrs. Webster were UCW president Susan Howson and Reverend Lorenzo Ramirez. Many people took advantage of the bargains at the used clothing sale on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A 4 p.m. Madness Sale on Friday saw even more bargains. Larry and Barbara Walsh, Howard and Valerie McKay enter­ tained relatives at the home of Larry and Barbara on Sunday, Oct. 25, in honour of their mother Mary Holland’s 80th birthday. Supper was enjoyed at The Blyth Inn. Suzanne and Al Thompson and boys and Jenny and Anton Pass- chier met at the home of Feme and Harvey McDowell on Thursday evening to say goodbye to the Thompsons who leave for their new home at RR 3, Creemore on the weekend. A piece of pottery from the Pottery Shop in Blyth was presented to them and their neighbours wished them much success and happiness in their new location. Neighbours will miss the Thompsons from the west end of Dinsley Street. Despite the pouring rain, a good turnout enjoyed the popular bazaar on Saturday. An extra large variety of baking pleased all the buyers. Once again Mary Hoonard’s cream puffs proved to be a big success and as a result the Tea Table realized a Blyth Lions Club new members The Blyth Lions Club held its regular meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Memorial Hall. Deputy District Governor Dennis Flavell from the Kincardine Lions Club made his official visit and present­ ed 18 Blyth Lions with their 1986-87 perfect attendance pins. Lion Doug Howson received his 15-year per­ fect attendance award. Three new members were initiated in to the club. Tom Cronin, Neil Elliott and Dave McLellan were welcomed by Blyth Lions. At the Oct. 8 meeting, District A9 Governor Tom O’Shea from the Meaford Lions Club made his official visit to the Blyth Lions. Lion Gerald Kerr was presented with the membership Key Award for sponsoring two new Lions into the Blyth Lions Club. The Silent Auction items created a lot of interest - especially Grace Poore’s pickles. After searching through the can full of bids, the top bidder of $42 was awarded the pickles. Avery special eventtook place at the beginning of the bazaar. A Continued on page 9 initiates Dance was held Friday, Oct. 23 at the Blyth and District Community Centre. All money raised from this dance will be used for the projects of the Blyth Lions Club or the activities of Lions Clubs Interna­ tional. The Blyth Lions are again sponsoring Beginners Skating at the Blyth arena on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30. All children who are learning to skate are welcome to attend. The next meeting of the Blyth Lions will be their annual autumn Ladies night on Thursday, Nov. 12.
